Janae glanced quickly at her daughter.
Her eyes red with humiliation, she lowered her head and dared not speak again.
Allen shot Janae a cold glare before turning to Ryan, his brow furrowed with impatience.
“Ryan, your mother called us here.”
“She said she's being held captive by your family.”
“Is that true?”
Ryan scoffed.
“So, you’re here to take her away?”
He didn't deny that Paige was being confined. Allen knew then that it was true.
His eyes narrowed. “Ryan, since when has the Blue family resorted to such undignified methods?”
“If word of this gets out, the Blue family will be frowned upon.”
Ryan’s fists clenched at his sides.
A chill surged through him, radiating from every pore.
He had never had much of a relationship with these so-called uncles.
Allen’s presence might be menacing, but Ryan was no sheltered prince who had never seen a storm. Faced with Allen's aggressive attitude, he showed no sign of intimidation. Instead, a colder, more resolute air emanated from him.
“The way the Blue family does things is none of your business!”
“What, based on a few words, you think you can come here and cause a scene tonight?”
Allen growled, “You!”
He stared hard at the young man before him.
Suddenly, Allen’s lips twisted into a humorless smile.
“Kid, I know you’ve always looked down on us.”
“You look down on all your uncles and aunts.”
“But Janae was right about one thing.”
“Don’t forget, you have our Thompson blood flowing through your veins!”
“I…”
He was about to speak when a derisive sneer echoed from outside the pavilion.
“Your family is truly shameless, aren’t they?”
“Coming to someone else’s home to throw your weight around, even trying to ruin a birthday party. You really know how to pick a place to cause trouble.”
Everyone froze.
When had someone else gotten so close?
The Thompson cousins immediately spun around, alert and on guard.
From the shadows of a rockery just outside the pavilion, a figure slowly emerged.
It was a stunningly beautiful woman in an elegant, pale-colored dress. Everything about her, from her attire to her tall, graceful posture, was anything but ordinary.
“Wiona!?”
“What… what are you doing here?”
