"You're... too kind," Juniper says.
"I try," Celine replies.
Having finished playing with the dog, Luella wanders over, catching the tail end of the conversation. "What are you two whispering about?"
"Celine was just saying she wants to introduce you to some handsome guys." Juniper smirks, ready for the show.
"That's right," Celine laughs awkwardly, her tone soft and encouraging. "Take your pick. As long as you like them..."
"No!" Luella turns deathly pale, shooting a resentful glare at Juniper. What kind of nonsense has Juniper been feeding her sister?
"It's perfectly fine." Celine, genuinely trying to be understanding, gives her a warm, accommodating smile. "Warren has a few men working under him who are quite handsome."
She then adds the kicker: "And more importantly, they also like men."
Luella freezes in place, suddenly finding it very hard to breathe.
Damn you, Juniper. Selling out a friend like this?
"My job here is done. I'm leaving." Luella huffs, turning on her heel. She starts power-walking, which quickly turns into a full-on sprint.
"Mr. Langley—" Celine watches Luella's fleeing figure in confusion. "What's wrong with him? Did I scare him away?"
"Just ignore her." Juniper's grin widens as she pulls Celine down into a chair, resting her palm gently against Celine's stomach. At nearly four months, the slight bump is noticeable, and the faint flutter of life can already be felt.
"How have you been feeling lately?" Juniper does a quick holistic check of her vitals. Her condition is much better than before, proving that Warren is taking excellent care of her.
"Pretty good," Celine smiles gently, radiating maternal warmth. "Just... a bit of morning sickness." She's been throwing up everything she eats.
"Oh?" Juniper raises an eyebrow, lightly tapping Celine's stomach. "If you dare give your mom a hard time again, just wait and see how I deal with you when you come out."
