Taking a tennis ball straight to the skull left Sheryl seeing stars. She stumbled backward, swaying violently as she fought to keep her balance.

The grandstands erupted into chaos.

Some people were screaming about Juniper’s insane precision, others were horrified by the sheer brutality of the hit.

And a few were openly mocking Sheryl for getting outplayed by a gardening tool.

The stadium sounded like a zoo enclosure at feeding time.

Once the dizziness faded, Sheryl clutched her throbbing forehead and shot Juniper a look of pure, unadulterated hatred.

"Present," Juniper replied breezily. She twirled the now slightly dented watering can in her hand, a dangerous, mocking smirk playing on her lips.

"You're cheating!" Sheryl shrieked, her face twisting in rage.

"Oh?"

Juniper blinked, the picture of perfect innocence. "You’re saying playing with a watering can is cheating? But didn't you explicitly agree to it just a minute ago?"

"Tell you what, let's swap. I'll take your pro racket, and you can use the watering can. I promise I won't complain."

"Would you like to swap equipment, Miss Yardley?" the referee chimed in helpfully.

"No!"

Sheryl spat, the word tearing out of her throat.

She had just underestimated her. Juniper had gotten lucky.

Now that Sheryl was paying attention, she was going to humiliate this arrogant bitch.

The tennis ball flew back and forth in crazy arcs—sometimes screaming fast, sometimes agonizingly slow.
