Theia nodded obediently, suddenly looking like a dutiful student sitting at attention, hanging on to her daughter's every word.
Five minutes later, Juniper stood up, ready to leave. Lingering any longer would make Corvus suspicious.
"Seven," Theia stood up with her, her face twisting with anxiety and a desperate reluctance to let her go. Her lips trembled. "Are you going to be okay?"
"I'll be fine." Juniper didn't hesitate for a second. "Someone recently almost died for me. My life is far too precious now. I won't let anyone touch it."
"What about Celine?" Theia asked, her eyes red with worry. "If things go south, grab your sister and run. Don't look back."
"And what about Dad?" Juniper shot back.
"Your father and I are together forever," Theia said firmly. The underlying message was clear: they would survive together, or they would die together. But they were never being separated again.
"Understood," Juniper said, swallowing the massive lump of grief in her throat. "Goodbye, Mom."
"Goodbye, Seven."
The moment the words left the air, Juniper slammed her fist against the iron door. "Open it," she ordered coldly.
The door swung open, and Juniper strode out without a single backward glance.
The second she crossed the threshold, Theia grabbed a metal chair and hurled it violently at her retreating back.
*BANG—*
The chair smashed against the heavy iron door with a deafening crash.
