Luella?
And Four?
Luella being here made sense, but why the hell did Shanley let her sister come?
"?"
Juniper glanced up at Shanley, a slight frown on her face.
"She refused to take no for an answer." Shanley sounded utterly exasperated, his voice raspy. "If I didn't bring her, I would've lost my future wife. What was I supposed to do?"
Juniper sighed.
Fair enough.
When Four made her mind up, even brick walls moved out of her way. Nobody could stop her.
Looking at the heavily armed operatives closing in on him from all sides, Corvus froze for a few seconds before suddenly bursting into a dark, mocking laugh. "Subterra Vanguard and the Sigma Network, working together?"
"Well played. What a brilliant move!"
"You destroyed both of my bases and wiped out decades of my research in one night!"
"Specter, you really are Theia's daughter. You've got guts!"
"Thanks for the compliment." Juniper stood up straight, her eyes lazy but lethal. Her cold voice cut through the tension. "I told you, I was going to make you pay."
"Your reign is over, Corvus."
"Is it?"
Corvus stared at Juniper with eerie calm. The shock in his eyes had vanished, replaced by an unsettling admiration. "I wouldn't be so sure."
"Don't waste breath on him, Juniper." Ebony Fox's eyes blazed as she aimed her rifle squarely at Corvus's chest. "We've got the entire perimeter locked down. There's no way out."
"Exactly."
Luella chimed in, her tone dropping its usual snark. "A monster like him belongs locked up behind bars. Let's see how much he likes prison food."
"Take him down."
Juniper tilted her head, glancing at Shanley's pale complexion. She knew he was pushing himself to the absolute limit despite his injuries, and her heart ached for him.
"Move!"
Luella and Ebony Fox signaled their teams to close in, shouting, "Drop your weapons and put your hands up if you want to live!"
