At the airfield, as the luggage was loaded onto the private jet, Juniper adjusted her baseball cap and glanced up at the scowling man. "Make sure you have the medicinal broth every day."
She had personally prepared the formula to help his wounds heal faster.
"I will," Shanley replied obediently, despite his displeasure.
"As for the Sigma Network team..." Juniper put on her sunglasses, looking utterly formidable. "I won't need them for now. I'm more than enough on my own."
"You're going to take on the Huntsman Institute single-handedly?" Shanley's lips thinned, his handsome face etched with worry.
"Is there a problem?" Juniper's lips curved into a faintly wicked smile. "I did it when I was a kid. This time, it's just a homecoming."
A homecoming? She called going to that hell on earth, the Huntsman Institute, a homecoming? She really had no fear.
"Call me if you need anything," Shanley said, his voice hoarse as he gently adjusted her cap.
"Deal." Juniper slung her backpack over her shoulder with a cool swagger and strode toward the plane.
Shanley stood watching until the jet was in the air, then turned to Felton and Flint, his tone icy. "Let's go."
"Boss," Felton and Flint hesitated, not daring to move. "Ms. Payne told you not to follow. What if she gets angry when you show up?"
"It's fine." Shanley didn't break his stride, a fond smile tugging at his lips. "Worst case, I'll let her shoot me again."
He had to recover anyway; one more wound wouldn't make a difference.
Felton and Flint said no more and hurried to catch up. To hell with it. If the boss wasn't scared, why should they be? They'd just make sure to slip away before Ms. Payne truly lost her temper.

The Amazon Rainforest, vast and sprawling, is the world's largest tropical rainforest, boasting unparalleled biodiversity. The infamous Huntsman Institute was hidden deep within its confines—mysterious, dangerous, and forbidding.
After landing, Juniper transferred to a helicopter, then an off-road vehicle, and finally took a boat across a hidden river to reach the Institute's perimeter.
"Boss, are you alright?" Flint asked, concerned. "Maybe we should rest for a bit before continuing?"
"Drive," Shanley waved him off, bending to get into the car and closing his eyes. He needed to show Juniper that no matter when, no matter where, he would always be by her side.

At the Huntsman Institute, in the director's office, a tall, broad, dark-skinned middle-aged man sat at his desk, flipping through the resignation letter Ebony Fox had submitted.
*BAM!*
After a mere glance, the man slammed the papers down, sending them flying. The letter hit Ebony Fox in the face, the pages scattering to the floor.
"I spent twenty years, a fortune, and everything I had training you, and now you want to leave?"
Ewan slowly rose from his chair. He walked unsteadily to Ebony Fox, grabbed her chin with his rough fingers, and sneered, "I hear you found your family?"
