Sabrina was utterly baffled. She had been perfectly content, minding her own business at home.
Why on earth had Martin barged in and erupted like a madman?
"I... I don't understand what's happening. Why are you screaming at me the second you walk through the door? I... I've done nothing but love you with all my heart. I've always supported you.
"What could I have possibly done to make you say such awful things to me?"
As she spoke, heavy tears welled up and spilled over her lashes. Her skin, freshly hydrated from the mask, looked luminous and radiant. Crying only enhanced her fragile, striking beauty. Her tear-streaked face looked so devastatingly vulnerable that it was hard not to feel a pang of sympathy.
Martin had always been completely disarmed by her tears, easily manipulated by her stunning features. For a fleeting second, his hardened resolve softened.
But then the cold reality hit him—he couldn't afford to let this slide.
If he didn't punish Sabrina himself, his two sons would inevitably take matters into their own hands.
They weren't naive little boys anymore. They had grown into ruthless, independent men with minds of their own. They were a united front now, and if both of them turned against him, he wouldn't stand a chance.
Knowing exactly where he stood, Martin extinguished any lingering sympathy for his wife.
With a swift, harsh motion, he threw the photographs he had brought home, scattering them at Sabrina's feet.
Panicked, Sabrina dropped down and scooped them up.
Seeing herself in the frame with a strange man, her mind went blank. She had only met the guy a handful of times, and in her panicked state, she completely failed to recognize him.
Naturally, she also failed to remember exactly what dark deeds she had commissioned him for.
Desperate, she looked up and began pleading. "I don't even know who this is! Martin, please tell me you're not accusing me of having an affair.
"How could you even think that?
"For years, you've been the only man in my heart. I would never betray you!
"Whatever misunderstanding this is, I can explain everything. I swear—"
