Bella looked as though she had just been struck by lightning, her face contorting in sheer disbelief.
Since uncovering Sebastian's lingering obsession with Lillian, Bella hadn't genuinely panicked because she knew his chances were zero.
Lillian had fortified her life against him. Sebastian couldn't even get in the same room as her, let alone orchestrate a grand romantic gesture.
It had been weeks, and Sebastian probably hadn't even managed to get Lillian on the phone.
Because of that, Bella had felt secure enough to play hardball and prepare for a lucrative divorce.
But this changed everything.
Yes, the St. Kingsley celebration was an annual high-society staple that invited the most prestigious alumni.
Sebastian was on the VIP list every year. Bella knew that for a fact.
She had seen the physical invitations arrive on his desk, and he always ignored them, preferring to wire a massive donation instead of showing his face.
She never imagined St. Kingsley would invite Lillian this year.
And Sebastian knew. He was going to use the centennial to get close to her.
Bella instantly lost her appetite. She gripped the edge of the table, looking ready to flip it over.
"Sebastian Blake, that bastard!" she hissed venomously. "Trying to have his cake and eat it too. We aren't even divorced yet, and he's already plotting his next move. Does he think I'm dead?"
Watching Bella practically vibrate with rage, Hannah was ecstatic.
This was exactly the unhinged reaction she wanted. If Bella hadn't lost her mind, Hannah would have been disappointed.
It was about time Bella felt the panic and humiliation she had inflicted on so many others.
Hannah kept her face perfectly composed, but she couldn't suppress the dark glee bubbling in her chest.
