Fated Marriage Spoiled by My Ice Billionaire novel Chapter 36

Damian glanced down at where the cushion was, and then smiled softly.

A soft click sounded as the bedroom door closed, followed by the barely audible sound of the lock engaging.

Inside the room, Isabelle paced, her hands covering her warm face. Stop thinking about him already.

An incoming video call from Diana Williams, her best friend here in Solvenia.

"Diana..." Isabelle whined softly, shooting a nervous glance at the door, afraid Damian in the living room might hear. She stepped out onto the balcony instead.

"Hey! I heard you're back? And you brought that CEO you rushed into marrying with you?" Diana's voice was all bright and gossipy.

"Yeah, I was just about to call you!" Isabelle leaned on the balcony railing. A light snow was falling. She reached out, catching the fine, cold flakes.

Diana asked, "What's up? Hitting a snag already, just days in?"

Isabelle found it hard to say. She stayed silent for a long moment.

"Is it about that?" Diana, ever perceptive, guessed immediately. "Trouble in the bedroom already?"

Isabelle sighed, "Are you a mind reader?"

"Please, for a newlywed couple, what else could it be?" Diana laughed. "And that's a problem? That's the fun part! Judging by the photo you sent, he looks like he knows what he's doing. Don't tell me you haven't gone for round two yet?"

"The first time hurt! A lot. I felt... wrecked. How could I even think about a second time?" Isabelle whispered into the phone, her face flushing hot with the confession.

She sighed, "I could barely walk properly for three days."

"You're overthinking it. It gets better, I promise..." Diana reassured her.

Isabelle paced slowly on the balcony as she listened, then suddenly stopped dead in her tracks.

The conversation cut off abruptly.

"Hello? You there? Huh... bad signal?" Diana's voice came through, puzzled, before the call dropped.

No one could have expected Damian to be standing at the edge of the connected living room balcony. He stood with his hands in the pockets of his black overcoat, his eyes fixed on her.

In the veil of falling snow, his expression was unreadable. She could only hope hers was equally hidden.

The phone in Isabelle's hand slowly lowered.

Is there a hole I can crawl into? Right now.

What architect designed this suite? The bedroom balcony and the living room balcony were connected!

She stood frozen.

How long has he been there?

How much did he hear?

Biting her lip, Isabelle turned mechanically and walked back into the room as if nothing had happened.

God! I want the ground to swallow me whole!

Will that work? Just kiss him and that's it? She swallowed hard. Inappropriate images flashed, unbidden, through her mind.

Hot. So hot. Who knew he could be this warm without heated floors?
