Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2890

The client greeted Eugene politely before heading into the restaurant.

Eugene frowned. “My mother just called me out of the blue—she said she wanted to talk about us. I thought she might have invited you, too.”

Sylvia raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Didn’t you already explain everything to Mrs. Winters?”

Eugene looked puzzled as well. “Yes, I told her we broke up. What more does she want?”

Sylvia thought of how Evelyn might be encouraging Gladys and gave Eugene a warning. “Evelyn is very close with your mother and Gladys. You should be careful around her.”

Eugene gave a wry smile. He already felt like he’d been maneuvered by his own mother and Gladys.

But marrying Evelyn? That was absolutely out of the question.

Inside the restaurant…

Evelyn spotted Eugene and Sylvia chatting together outside through the window. She had no idea why Sylvia was there, but a sudden wave of anxiety hit her—what if Sylvia revealed her true identity to Eugene?

The guilt made Evelyn restless. She immediately stood up and hurried out of the restaurant.

“Sylvia! What a coincidence,” Evelyn said, approaching Eugene and greeting Sylvia with practiced familiarity.

Sylvia looked a bit surprised, and Eugene’s brow furrowed deeply. “Ms. Quintin, what are you doing here?”

Evelyn felt awkward hearing Eugene address her as “Ms. Quintin” in front of Sylvia. She let out a strained laugh. “Your mother invited me to meet her here.”

She then put on a look of realization. “Did Mrs. Winters invite you too, Mr. Winters?”

Eugene caught on immediately, his demeanor turning distant. “Actually, I also have something I wanted to discuss with you, Ms. Quintin. Since we’re both here, let’s talk later.”
