Norah stared at him with wide, pleading eyes. A moment later, her gaze turned pitiful and mournful. "Exactly. Because I'm clumsy and lack real-world experience, I need to stay by your side to learn. I swear I won't touch any more weeds. Please?"
Looking at her miserable expression, Xavier's resolve finally cracked. "What about your job?"
"I'll just take vacation time! I literally just wrapped up a massive project, and Adrian said I could take a few days off anyway," Norah countered quickly. "Don't worry, I'm a responsible person. I won't let it affect my work."
Honestly, the thought of letting her travel all the way back to J City by herself didn't sit right with Xavier anyway. "Fine. But for the next two days, you stick by my side. No wandering off alone."
Norah beamed. "Don't worry. I'd love nothing more than to be attached to your hip twenty-four-seven."
Xavier was speechless.
He was genuinely starting to suspect she was flirting with him on purpose.
She dropped incredibly intimate lines effortlessly! But then he looked at her bright, innocent eyes and convinced himself he was just overthinking it.
As they relaxed in the cool night air, Norah curled up in the lounge chair and asked, "Did Wyatt get back to you?"
Xavier nodded. "He got ahold of the project manager for the hotel development. We're meeting him on Monday."
Norah rested her chin on her hand. "If this guy agrees to leave the B&B alone, everything is settled. That went way smoother than I expected."
"Let's hope so," Xavier said.
Norah smiled. "If he was going to say no, he wouldn't have agreed to a sit-down. You have nothing to worry about!"
Xavier changed the subject. "What exactly do you do at your company?"
Norah's eyes lit up immediately. "Oh my god, you're actually taking an interest in my life!"
Xavier groaned internally.
