Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 270

Grace took off her sunglasses, revealing a pair of cool eyes.

“Take a look at who I am.”

Silas Greymark squinted for a long moment, then his pupils contracted violently. He shrank back toward the corner of the bed as if he’d seen a ghost.

“Grace Hart?!”

“Are you a ghost?! The news said you were…”

“Scared?”

Grace watched him coolly, approaching the bed step by step.

“I want the truth about what happened back then.”

“Did the Clarke family drive my uncle to his death, or did you kill him?”

Silas’s lips trembled, tears and snot streaming down his face.

“Grace… Grace, I’m so sorry about your uncle…”

“I didn't want to! I had no choice!”

“I owed fifty million dollars to loan sharks! They were going to chop off my hands! Kill my whole family!”

Grace stared at him, her expression unreadable.

“So you sold the core technology?”

“That was my uncle’s life’s work!”

“Was it for the money, or was someone pulling the strings?”

How could a gambling addict get in touch with an overseas tech company? And how could he have timed it so perfectly, just three days after the Clarke family signed the contract?

Silas froze for a second, his eyes starting to shift away.

“No… no one was behind it. I just wanted to make some money…”

Elliot took a step forward, pulled a pair of handcuffs from his coat, and tossed them onto the small stool by the bed.

“Mr. Greymark, I’m a police officer. Why don’t we head down to the station and have a proper chat?”

“No! Please, no!”

Silas Greymark was so scared he nearly wet himself.

“I’ll talk! I’ll talk!”

“It was the Clarkes! A senior executive from the Clarke family contacted me!”

Grace’s heart tightened. She asked, her voice trembling, “Damien Clarke?”

“This… this has a recording from back then.”

“I was careful. I knew dealing with people like him would end badly, so I secretly recorded our conversation.”

“Grace, seeing as… seeing as I’m on my deathbed, if you give this to the police, can it count as me atoning for my crime? Can you get me into a better hospital?”

Grace took the greasy phone.

Inside, there was indeed a recording.

“…Once this is done, you’ll get your money. Remember, make that fool Bastian Hawke think it was Damien being too domineering. Don’t drag me into it…”

The voice was definitely not Damien’s, nor was it his father’s.

Grace’s hands were shaking.

She looked at Silas and suddenly felt a wave of nausea.

“You want to go to a hospital?”

Grace let out a cold laugh and tossed the phone to Elliot Ashcombe.

“Elliot, it’s all yours.”

With that, she turned and walked away.
