Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 430

A dead silence fell over the interrogation room.

So, that seemingly gentle woman had fought against an entire shadowy world all by herself to protect the yet-unborn Grace, right up to the end of her life.

“What about the time capsule?” Damien pressed. “Why was there only a will and a few letters in the capsule Grace dug up?”

“Hahaha…” The Butcher suddenly started laughing. “Because that wasn’t what Lauren Hawke left behind at all!”

“The real capsule, besides Lauren’s will, did contain a semi-encrypted biological chip—the key to restarting the ‘Dawn Project.’”

“But that fool, Alistair Hart, secretly dug it up a few days after burying it. He thought it contained gold or patent documents, but all he found was a useless-looking chip and a letter.”

“He didn’t understand the chip’s value, and he was afraid the letter would expose his crime of poisoning her. So he took the real contents and replaced them with a few fake, sappy love letters he’d written himself, trying to frame Lauren as some lovesick fool.”

Damien’s gaze sharpened. “Where is the real chip now?”

The Butcher looked up, a strange light in his eyes.

“Alistair might have been a fool, but he was also a miser. He figured anything Lauren left behind must be valuable. However…”

“We searched for that chip for a long time and never found it.”

A malicious grin spread across the Butcher’s face.

“Mr. Clarke, don’t take this the wrong way, but now that Alistair Hart is dead, I don’t believe you’ll find anything that Nemesis and The Shepherd couldn’t.”

Damien stood up, looking down at him with cold eyes.

“You seem to have forgotten that Grace lived in the Hart family estate for over a decade.”

Without waiting to see the color drain from the Butcher’s face, he turned and walked out.

Outside the interrogation room, Damien took out his phone and dialed Grace’s number.

“Grace, listen to me. We’ve found what your mother left for you.”

“Where is it?” Grace’s voice sounded exhausted.

“At the old estate,” Damien said, walking briskly. “I’m heading there now. You stay at the hospital with Dorian and your grandmother. Don’t go anywhere.”
