Now that they had found each other, certain formalities had to be observed.
For example, meeting the family.
When Damien, holding his daughter, saw Grace approaching with a woman who looked exactly like her but had a completely different fashion sense, the unflappable Mr. Clarke wore an expression like he’d just seen a ghost for the first time.
“What the…”
Damien looked at Grace, then at Lottie, and finally down at the daughter in his arms.
“Gianna, look, you have two mommies?”
Little Gianna’s big, dark eyes widened. She looked left, then right, and finally, decisively, reached her arms out for Grace.
His own daughter knew best.
“Damien, let me introduce you.” Grace linked arms with Lottie, a relaxed expression on her face that Damien had never seen before. “This is Lottie Grant, my twin sister.”
“Sister?” Damien raised an eyebrow.
“Hello, brother-in-law.” Lottie smiled sweetly. “I’ve heard so much about you. Is it true you used to be a real jerk?”
Damien was speechless.
Why was his new sister-in-law digging up his past the moment they met?
“The past is the past.” Damien’s survival instincts kicked in as he wrapped an arm around Grace’s waist. “I’m a model husband now.”
Lottie made a noise of appraisal and looked Damien up and down.
“He’s not bad looking. I suppose he’s a decent match for our Grace.”
“However…”
Lottie’s tone shifted, and her gaze sharpened. “Mr. Clarke, I may just be a painter without much power, but I know quite a few people in the international art world.”
“If you ever dare to bully Grace, I’ll cover the walls of your mansion in curse symbols and give you nightmares every single day.”
Damien’s mouth twitched.
“I wouldn’t dare.”
“Good to hear.”
Lottie was a straightforward person. Now that the family connection was established, she didn't act like a stranger.
