Experience always wins out.
With just one sentence, the old woman pulled Grace Hart back to reality.
She was right.
The internet trolls didn't care about the truth; they only lived for the feeding frenzy. If Grace appeared before the cameras looking like this, even if Ivy woke up, the ensuing public outcry would be enough to kill her all over again.
"Quick, go change your clothes," Marianne urged, giving her a push. "Get yourself cleaned up. You're her rock. If you fall apart or lose your cool, who's going to get justice for her?"
Grace took a deep breath, forcing her tears back.
"Okay."
She turned and rushed into the bathroom.
The icy stream of water washed over her hands, gradually rinsing away the bloodstains.
Once, she too had bled so much.
Back then, no one had called an ambulance for her. No one had told her, "You have to be strong."
With a splash, Grace threw a handful of cold water onto her face.
The bone-chilling sensation finally calmed her down.
She absolutely could not let Ivy be consumed by this same pain and lose her life.
Five minutes later.
"Mom, Grandma, I'm leaving," Grace said, changing her shoes at the entryway.
"Go on," old Mrs. Clarke nodded. "We'll handle things here. We'll take good care of Gianna. Call us immediately if anything happens over there."
"Also, Felix has already gone ahead with the bodyguards," Marianne added. "Don't worry about the cost."
Grace nodded and walked out the door.

St. Aurelia Medical Center, Emergency Room.
"They're still working on her."
Felix was waiting by the door. Seeing Grace approach, he reported in a low voice, "The doctor said she lost a lot of blood and showed signs of a mild drug overdose. It looks like she took sleeping pills before slitting her wrists."
She really wanted to die.
Grace closed her eyes.
That foolish girl, Ivy.
Normally, she'd compare prices at three different stores before buying a purse and spend ages calculating coupons for a hot pot dinner.
How could she be so reckless when it came to ending her own life?
