Chapter 123 The Expensive Snub
The bitter aroma of the black coffee made Jade’s stomach churn with nausea, and she knit her brows in disgust.
Hudson saw the look on her face and felt a suffocating pressure in his chest.
“Jade, do you really loathe the sight of me that much?”
Jade didn’t even acknowledge the pathetic question, getting straight to business.
“What exactly do you want to talk about?”
Hudson picked up his coffee but set it back down before taking a single sip.
“The evidence you posted-can you take it down? Name your price. I’ll pay whatever you want.”
In the past, Jade would have been insulted, asking if he truly thought her dignity had a price tag.
But she was past being insulted by him now.
Jade took a slow, deliberate sip of her water before looking him dead in the eye and speaking.
“A hundred million dollars.”
“A hundred million?”
Hudson’s voice dropped to a dangerous low.
“Are you losing your mind?”
Jade challenged him. “Weren’t you the one who told me to name a price?”
Hudson was momentarily speechless, his face a mask of dark, offended fury.
“Jade, don’t push your luck.”
“I should be the one saying that to you!” Jade slammed her glass onto the table with a loud crack.
“When will you leave me alone? When will you finally sign the divorce papers?”
Hudson’s lips moved, but the words felt like they were being dragged through gravel.
“Ask for anything but that.”
“There is nothing else.” Jade’s fingers were trembling as she gripped her glass.
“You know exactly what I want. If you want those recordings gone, bring me the signed papers.”
Jade drew a long breath, stood up, and walked out of the cate without looking back
Seeing her absolute refusal to negotiate, Hudson leaned back and closed his eyes in frustration,
He watched her slender retreating figure through the window.

Chapter 123 The Expensive Snub
She tooked so fragile, like a flower in a storm-so how could she be this unyielding?
Bzz, bzz, bzz-
His phone on the table began to vibrate incessantly.
He saw it was a call from Bert, no doubt calling for an update on his failure.
He yanked at his tie and unbuttoned his shirt, trying to catch his breath.
Suppressing the white-hot irritation in his gut, he answered the call.
“Dad…”
Bert’s voice was as cold as iron.
“Is the situation contained?”
Hudson’s jaw set into a hard line.
“I’m still working on it.”
“You went to her and she refused. What more is there to ‘work on’?” Bert snapped.
Hudson’s pupils contracted, but before he could speak, his father’s voice boomed through the speaker.
“You’re soft, Hudson-I don’t know where you get it from. I gave you a chance, and you failed. I’m handling this my w
“Dad-”
Hudson barely got the word out before the line went dead.
A cold dread pooled in his stomach as he grabbed his jacket and sprinted back to the office.
At that exact moment, the Walter Group released an official press statement.
The statement read, “The CEO of the Walter Group and Ms. Hoyt are childhood friends. Out of compassion for a widowed mother, the family provided support. The viral photographs were faked and distributed by Ms. Merchant out of a baseless, obsessive Jealousy
The statement didn’t stop there, going on to accuse Jade of orchestrating the attack on Amara’s home, citing “confessions” hom her stepmother and brother.
Furthermore, several “insider” accounts surfaced online claiming Jade had used coercion to marry Hudson and had always been a pathologically jealous woman.
In an instant, the digital landscape shifted violently.
Vicious, hateful comments began to pour down on Jade like a freezing rainstorm
“What kind of ‘Mrs. Walter’ is this? Just a calculating, evil b*tch Hudson married her out of pity, and she targets a single mother?
“People like her are the reason men have trust issues. She belongs in a cell!”
