From His Ex-Wife to the World's Most Sought-After Restorer (Jade and Hudson) novel Chapter 133

Chapter 133 The Rescue Mission

“A psychiatric ward?”

Amara’s face turned a bruised, sickly shade of grey as her entire body began to vibrate with a visceral horror.

“No! No, I won’t go! I’m not going to a madhouse! I’m not crazy!”

She wanted to scream that she was perfectly sane, but then she remembered that the ‘illness’ was her own invention. The lie choked her until she couldn’t make a sound.

Hudson wasn’t there to negotiate with her; he was there to execute a decision.

“I’m hiring a team of specialists to care for Cortney. In your current state, you are a danger to her well-being.”

“No!”

Amara clutched her head and ignored him, beginning to mutter a frantic, broken monologue to herself.

“Cortney needs her mother… I can’t leave her… I won’t leave her…”

“I’ve already discussed this with Ronald’s father, and he agrees with the plan,” Hudson said, standing up and pinning her with a lethal stare.

“Amara, I made a promise to Ronald. Because of that debt, I won’t let you starve. But that does not mean I will allow you to lie to me or cross my boundaries ever again.”

He drew a long, weary breath, his voice turning into a wall of cold indifference.

“Deal with the consequences.”

Amara shuddered, and just as Hudson was about to finish, his phone began to vibrate in his pocket.

He answered, and whatever he heard on the other end made his face drain of color instantly.

“I’m on my way right now.”

Without another glance at the woman sobbing on the floor, he strode out of the room at a run.

Amara watched him leave, a slow and terrifyingly twisted smirk beginning to spread across her face.

Every step she had taken with Hudson Walter was a move on a chessboard she had built herself.

She would not allow her endgame to be ruined by a simple hospital stay.

Did he really think a psych ward would make her surrender? He was wrong.

She just needed to wait for the perfect moment to strike. Very soon, she would make Hudson come and beg her to leave that hospital.

Meanwhile, across the city.

Chapter 133 The Rescue Mission

Julian had spent the previous night dealing with an urgent crisis overseas.

He had landed back in the capital at dawn, his head throbbing from lack of sleep, only to be dragged to a restaurant by Jeff.

He should have been preparing for his return to Harbor City, but his mind was consumed with Jade.

Yesterday, he had provided her with the evidence that should have ended the Walter family’s games forever. He had been monitoring the news, and the narrative had swung decisively in her favor.

Logically, Jade should have reached out to share the victory or at least offer a word of thanks.

But a full twenty-four hours had passed, and his phone had remained silent.

Julian sat with his chin in his hand, his finger tapping irritably against the screen of his phone.

Suddenly, he looked up and shot a sharp, annoyed glance at Jeff, who was eating shrimps.

“Send me a text message right now.”

Jeff paused, confused.

Julian leaned back into his chair with a heavy scowl.

“I need to check if my service provider is having an outage.”

“Oh…”

Jeff didn’t understand the logic, but he sent a puppy meme to Julian’s phone anyway.

Bzz-

As expected, the notification appeared on Julian’s screen instantly.

Jeff chuckled and tossed his phone back onto the table.

“I told you it was fine. Why would a man of your status have-”

Júlian silenced him with a single, freezing look that could have drawn blood.

He looked back down and refreshed his feed, his concern for Jade finally overwhelming his pride as he dialed her number.

No answer on the first call.

No answer on the second.

Three calls later, and there was still nothing but the automated voicemail.

Julian’s jaw tightened into a hard line; he knew with absolute certainty that something was wrong.

Jeff had been rambling to himself, but seeing Julian’s expression, he finally stopped and waved a hand in front of him.

“Julian? What is it? You’ve been a ghost all morning.”
