Chapter 134 The Leap of Faith

Jade scrambled up to the attic terrace to find a hiding spot.

The second she vanished from the courtyard, the previously silent estate erupted into a frenzy of activity.

Dozens of maids and bodyguards poured into the grounds, searching every corner for her.

She crouched in the shadows until she heard the roar of a high-performance engine, peeking through a tiny window to see Hudson’s Maybach.

Her heart skipped a beat; Hudson was back at the estate.

If she didn’t move now, they would find her within minutes. She had to get out.

Jade squeezed her palms together, her mind racing through the layout of the old house.

She remembered the servants using this terrace to dry rare herbs and using a utility ladder to reach the outer wall.

It had been years since she’d seen it, but she prayed it was still there.

Moving by memory, she located the old wooden ladder tucked into a corner of the terrace.

Her eyes lit up with hope as she approached the edge of the roof.

The ladder was unanchored and showing its age, representing a terrifying risk for anyone, let alone someone in her condition.

But this was her only chance at freedom, and she couldn’t afford to hesitate for another second.

Jade closed her eyes, took one final steadying breath, and climbed over the stone railing.

The ladder groaned and wobbled under her weight; every rung was a lethal gamble with gravity. She was halfway down when a cold sweat soaked through her dress.

A sudden gust of wind hit her, making her skin crawl with goosebumps.

shaking, she gripped the sides of the ladder with everything she had-then a cold, authoritative roar hit her from below.

Jade! Are you insane? You’re pregnant and you’re on a ladder that high?! Get down right now!”

Jade turned deathly pale, her entire body vibrating with a primal terror. She clutched the rungs for a second before letting go and scrambling onto the top of the stone wall. Her legs dangled between the yards, her body swaying as the wind threatened to knock her into the abyss.

Within seconds, Hudson and his security detail reached the base of the wall. Seeing her perched there, Hudson’s heart hammered against his ribs, but he forced his voice into a soothing, low register.

‘Jade, please… just come down. We can talk about everything. I’ll give you whatever you want.”

Jade was terrified of the height, but the thought of being locked away as a Walter breeding tool was infinitely more horrifying.

Her eyes were bloodshot as she shouted back at him, her voice cracking with emotion.

Chapter 134 The Leap of Faith

“You locked me in this cage to break me! Do you just want me dead? Is that the only way you’ll be satisfied?!”

Just as she finished the sentence, she caught the sight of a black Cullinan racing toward the back path.

The car skidded to a halt, and a tall, powerful figure bolted from the driver’s side toward her.

The man beneath the wall looked up with a look of frantic, desperate concern before opening his arms wide to her.

“Jade! Don’t be afraid! Jump! I will catch you! I promise!”

The wind whipped Jade’s hair across her face as she recognized Julian standing there, and she froze in shock.

Julian… Julian Forster? What on earth are you doing here?”

She was so stunned by his presence that she forgot her usual formalities and blurted out his name.

Terrified she would slip, Julian stepped onto a nearby rock to gain leverage, reaching his long arms toward her.

‘Just come down to me, Jade.”

From inside the inner yard, Hudson couldn’t see past the stone wall, but he heard the stranger’s voice.

His expression transformed into a mask of pure, lethal fury.

‘Jade! Who the hell is out there with you?!”

Hudson’s cold bark snapped her back to reality instantly.

She saw his dark, brooding face and the guards approaching with a second ladder to retrieve her.

f she stayed, her fate was sealed within those walls.

Jade!”

Jade!”

Hudson and Julian’s voices collided in the air, both calling her name from opposite sides of the wall.

A single stone barrier separated two entirely different versions of her future.

But every choice she had made lately led to one inevitable conclusion.

She was choosing freedom! Every single time!

Jade began to shift her weight, leaning her body toward the outside of the wall, reaching her hand into the air toward his.

“Julian…”

She had zero protection, and the sensation of vertigo was overwhelming, her voice trembling with a visceral fear.

“Will you… will you truly catch me?”

Julian moved closer to the wall, his fingertips finally brushing hers before he reached out and locked his hand around her wrist with an unshakeable strength.
