From His Ex-Wife to the World's Most Sought-After Restorer (Jade and Hudson) novel Chapter 208

"You thought you could fix this? Look around, Hudson. Is there any room for you? Give up. We are done forever!"

Screech—

A violent jolt and the sound of slamming brakes tore Hudson from the nightmare.

"Jade!" he screamed, his voice cracking.

In the driver's seat, Kevin turned with a panicked apology.

"I'm so sorry, sir! A cat ran across the road. I had to slam on the brakes. Are you okay?"

Hudson's chest was heaving, his mind a chaotic mess of fear and rage. "Back to Grandview. Now."

Kevin was stunned. "Aren't we going to the office?"

Hudson ripped at his tie, his voice a jagged roar. "I said, back to Grandview!"

Kevin didn't dare ask another question. He pulled a U-turn and raced back toward the estate.

The second they pulled up, Hudson charged inside and straight to the guest room.

He found Jade sitting by the window, calmly reading her files. The sight of her safe and sound made his heart finally drop back into his chest.

But the lingering terror of the nightmare turned his relief into a cold, possessive fury. He strode over and seized her wrist in a crushing grip.

"You are never seeing Julian Foster again! Do you hear me?"

Jade swatted his hand away and glared at him.

"Are you actually brain-damaged?"

She snapped her restoration files shut and tried to walk past him.

Hudson caught her again, his grip even tighter this time, as if he intended to snap the bone.

"I said: Stay away from Julian Foster."

Jade winced but refused to cry out. She met his gaze with a look of icy challenge.

"By what right do you think you can dictate who I talk to?"

Hudson's voice was like stone. "He's a predator. I am forbidding you from seeing him."

Jade tried to wrench her arm free, but he was immovable. "You are literally insane!"

Hudson was spiraling. He was losing his grip on her, and the panic was making him reckless. He reached out and grabbed her chin.

"You want to move out, don't you? You think you can escape me? Heh. Forget it. As long as you're Mrs. Walter, you stay in this house. You'll die in this house before I let you go!"

Jade's face remained neutral, but her palms were slick with cold sweat and a chill ran down her spine.

She knew Hudson. She knew that pushing for an exit now would only lead to a cage.

That was why she hadn't mentioned moving out since the abortion.

She couldn't afford to trigger his madness. If he locked her in, she'd never get the evidence Silas needed.
