From His Ex-Wife to the World's Most Sought-After Restorer (Jade and Hudson) novel Chapter 250

"Anything! I'll do anything!"

Cindy didn't even wait to hear the terms. She was desperate.

If this got out, her life of luxury would vanish in an instant.

It was her worst nightmare.

"Just don't tell anyone. Please. I'll do whatever you want."

Amara's smile widened. "Good. Come here. I'll tell you exactly what I need."

She whispered into Cindy's ear. When she was done, Cindy looked hesitant, her brow furrowed.

"But—"

"Do it, or I expose you and your husband for what you are," Amara snapped.

"You don't have a choice!"

Cindy was miserable, but with Amara holding the knife to her throat, she didn't dare say no.

"Fine. We'll do exactly what you said."

Inside the studio.

Jade sat at her desk, her eyes closed in exhaustion.

Her mind was a carousel of the day's events.

Riva Sterling, Mrs. Gable, and now Cindy Merchant...

And those recordings of Jewell that kept hitting her phone.

If the goal of the book sabotage was to send her to jail for revenge, then what was the point of Cindy's visit and the relentless recordings?

Was it just to break her spirit? Or was Amara brewing something much bigger?

Jade's thoughts were a tangled mess. She stood up, grabbed her phone, and forced herself to look at the photos and listen to the recordings again.

She had to stay rational. She had to find a pattern.

Suddenly, a thought struck her, and she sat up straight.

When Jewell was first taken, Amara was the one who called.

If the recordings were being updated so frequently, didn't that mean Jewell was being held somewhere close to Amara?

If she followed Amara, could she find where they were keeping her?

Jade acted on the impulse immediately. She found Amara's new address and headed out to stake the place out.

No matter how slim the chance, she had to take it.

She didn't tell Silas or Julian. They were too cautious; they'd tell her to wait.

In the boardroom, Hudson's presentation was met with a round of applause.

Afterward, the shareholders crowded around Bert, singing his praises.

"Your son has an incredible eye for opportunity, Bert. You raised him well."

"I hear he's already put $100 million in. If he needs more, just say the word. We're all in."

"This project is going to be the foundation for the next decade of this company's growth."

...

Bert thought back to a few weeks ago, when those same shareholders were screaming for Hudson's head because of the scandals. Seeing them fawn over him now was a massive boost to his ego.

He straightened his back, his voice booming with confidence.

"You're all too kind. Hudson is the CEO; maximizing your returns is his job. He'll keep pushing forward, I can promise you that."

"Excellent!"

The shareholders clapped again. Bert nodded graciously, soaking in the approval.

Hudson watched from the side, his expression blank.

Since he was a child, Bert had always taken the credit for his successes. Everyone said it was because of Bert's parenting that Hudson turned out so well.

But Hudson knew better. When Bert was young, he was rarely home, and he'd never actually raised him at all.
