From His Ex-Wife to the World's Most Sought-After Restorer (Jade and Hudson) novel Chapter 251

Hudson lowered his gaze, masking the surge of coldness in his eyes, and turned to walk away.

Kevin knew the relationship between Hudson and Bert was anything but warm.

Beyond the surface, they were more like strangers bound only by the legal and financial interests of the Walter name.

That afternoon.

The limited-edition Maybach pulled smoothly out of the Walter Group's parking garage.

Hudson's gaze shifted to the periphery, catching two familiar figures standing before Bert, gesturing frantically. His face hardened instantly.

"Stop the car."

Screech—

Kevin slammed on the brakes.

"What is it, sir?"

Hudson didn't answer. He threw the door open, his long legs hitting the pavement as he headed toward them. Kevin pulled to the curb and scrambled after him.

At the entrance of the Walter Group.

Cindy and Michael were practically wailing at Bert.

"Mr. Walter, the economy is a disaster. Our company is underwater. Our Jade has been married to your son for years. Even if there's no love, she's put in the work. For the sake of your daughter-in-law, please, help us.

"Mr. Walter, we aren't asking for much. Just give us a lead on a few projects—anything to keep the lights on."

Bert's face was a mask of pure disgust, his expression darkening with every word.

This was a transparent attempt to crawl up the Walter ladder.

No money, no class, no influence.

How had the Walters ever ended up with such low-class in-laws?

Seeing Bert's silence, Cindy dropped to her knees right there on the sidewalk, her voice rising to a screech.

"Mr. Walter! For Jade's sake, help us!"

"She's right," Michael added, sounding just as desperate.

"Jade is your daughter-in-law. We're family. Helping us is like helping yourselves. We'll pay you back ten-fold once we're on our feet!"

Bert loathed public spectacles; these two were a walking humiliation.

The fact that they kept using Jade's name only made him more furious.

"Did Jade send you?"

Cindy and Michael exchanged a quick, shifty glance before hanging their heads in unison.

Bert's chest heaved as he stood on the precipice of a full-blown explosion.

"Dad!"

Hudson marched into the center of the conflict, acting as a buffer.

"You've had a long day. Go home and rest. I'll handle this."

Hudson's voice was like ice.

"Help you target my wife?"

The sentence placed him and Jade firmly in the same camp.

Cindy choked on her words, looking at Michael for a lifeline.

Before Michael could speak, Hudson continued.

"I don't care about your motives or who put you up to this, but it ends here. Get out. Don't touch Jade again, or I won't be this polite."

His tone was calm, but the menace in his eyes sent Cindy stumbling back behind Michael.

Michael nodded stiffly, his body rigid. "We... we understand."

Hudson delivered a final, low warning. "And don't tell Amara I know she sent you. Are we clear?"

Michael looked absolutely miserable.

"Clear, sir. Crystal clear."

Hudson gave them one last look of pure disdain and turned on his heel.

Back inside the Maybach, Hudson's expression was beyond grim.

Thinking of everything that had happened lately, the red flags around Amara Hoyt were becoming impossible to ignore.

Did she really kill Ronald Faith?
