“Give her to me. I’ll take her myself.”

Bastian held Jade tighter, shielding her from Hudson’s view. He gave the other man a look of pure, unadulterated contempt.

“Mr. Walter, let me remind you of your status: you are the ex-husband. You have zero right to demand anything.”

Hudson’s fury spiked. “And you do? Who do you think you are?”

He reached out to snatch Jade back, but Bastian’s boot caught him in the chest, sending him stumbling back.

Bastian’s gaze landed on Jade’s sweat-soaked face, her hair matted against her skin. He looked back at Hudson, his eyes like sharpened glass.

“She’s dying in front of you. If you delay her treatment by one more second, I will make sure the Walter name is erased from this city by morning.”

With that, he turned and marched toward his car.

By the time Hudson recovered his breath, the Bentley was already pulling away.

Hudson stood in the dirt, watching the taillights fade. A dark, suffocating shadow settled over him. He clenched his fists until they bled.

Bastian Hamlet…

First the studio, now this.

Who is he?

But looking at the way Jade had trusted the man, he knew Bastian wasn’t going to hurt her.

Since she was in safe hands, Hudson could finally focus on the animals in the shed.

He stripped off his jacket and tossed it aside, rolling up his sleeves to reveal forearms corded with tension. He began to walk toward the storage unit.

Inside the shed.

The cameras were still rolling. The white mat was still in the center.

Four of the goons were on the floor, groaning in pain.

Next to the mat, the leader was curled in a ball, his face a ghastly shade of

grey.

Hudson took in the scene with a single, sweeping glance. He knew exactly what had been planned here.

He zeroed in on his target, walking to the leader’s side and looking down at him with a lethal, icy stare.

“Did you touch her?”

Hudson looked like a demon from hell. The thug didn’t even try to answer.

He just shook his head frantically, trying to crawl away from the shadow Hudson cast over him.

Hudson didn’t let him. His boot came down hard on the man’s stomach, pinning him to the

floor.

“Which hand did you use?”

The pain in the man’s midsection and groin was so intense he wanted to die.

He knew that admitting to anything was a death sentence.

“I didn’t! I swear! I never touched her! Please!”

Hudson let out a short, jagged laugh. He ground his heel into the man’s injury.

“Aaaah!”

The scream rattled the walls of the shed.

Hudson didn’t stop. He increased the pressure, his voice a low, terrifying whisper.

“Since you won’t tell me, I’ll just have to take them both.”

Inside the Bentley.

Jade’s mind had fractured. She was fighting a losing battle for her sanity, her lips bitten raw in her effort to stay quiet.

“Hot.”

“I’m so hot.”

“Please… make it stop…”

Bastian felt as if a fire were burning in his own chest. The sound of her voice was a physical ache.

He turned to the driver.

“Faster.”

“Yes, sir.”

The driver floored it, hitting the switch to raise the privacy partition for the back seat.

Bastian caught both of Jade’s hands in one of his, preventing her from clawing at herself.

He pulled her into his lap, resting her head against his shoulder.

He stroked her back, trying to anchor her through the storm.

“If it hurts, bite me. Don’t hurt yourself, Jade.”

But the drug was too strong. She began to writhe in his grip, her hot, damp skin pressing against his neck.
