“If you keep making a scene and Grandpa finds out you want a divorce, he’ll immediately kick Amara and Cortney out. Do you have any idea what could happen if they’re forced to live out there on their own? Ronald is already dead. I can’t let Amara and Cortney fall into danger again. Jade, I believe you can understand where I’m coming from.”
No matter how he phrased it, it all revolved around one person: Amara.
The light in Jade’s eyes completely died out. She shook off Hudson’s grip and wiped her tears with her sleeve, her face settling into a hauntingly dead calm.
“You want to take care of Amara and Cortney. You’re terrified John won’t let them stay, so you forbid me from crying or making a fuss. But what about me? You force me to watch you dote on Amara and protect her like she’s made of glass. Do you have any idea how much that breaks me, or how many times I’ve cried myself to sleep? Have you ever even cared?”
Jade pulled out the portrait she had hand-drawn for Hudson from the drawer and hurled it at the floor with every ounce of her strength.
With a deafening crash, the glass shattered upon impact, exploding all over the floor.
After smashing the portrait, Jade looked at Hudson, her mind clearer than it had ever been.
‘You don’t care about me, and you use the fact that I love you to endlessly hurt me. Hudson, I’m done playing your twisted games.
‘m divorcing you! I refuse to be the pathetic Mrs. Walter being strung along like an absolute idiot anymore!”
Her stubborn refusal to listen ignited a flare of genuine anger within Hudson.
Jade, I’m explaining this to you because I want you to understand my position, not so you can throw another tantrum.”
‘I should understand you?”
lade shook her head, taking two steps backward.
Then who is going to understand me?”
Hudson suddenly stepped closer to her.
Jade, it seems confiscating your supplementary credit card and cutting off your allowance didn’t teach you a lesson. Do you onestly think your dad will support you if you divorce me? He won’t. Cindy will never let him spend a dime on you. She’ll force him to kick you out onto the streets, leaving you completely homeless. Knowing all of that, do you still want a divorce?”
Each word felt like a brutal stab directly into Jade’s heart.
Her eyes grew freezing cold. Even though Hudson had never cared about her over the past three years, he knew exactly what she valued most, and he knew exactly which words would inflict the maximum amount of pain.
She had lost her mother at a young age. While Michael had treated her decently before, she could never truly fit into the cozy family dynamic he shared with his new wife and son.
She had always desperately craved a warm home to call her own.
Three years ago, when she married Hudson, she thought she had finally found that home.

Because of that, she had poured everything she had into taking care of their little household.
But in reality, it had all been nothing but wishful thinking….
Jade closed her eyes tightly before opening them again, her gaze completely resolute,
“Yes! Even if I end up homeless and completely alone, I am still divorcing you!”
Hearing this, Hudson’s usually placid eyes rippled with intense emotion.
“Are you certain?”
Jade stared straight into his eyes, her voice resolute and unwavering.
“Yes!”

Hudson suddenly lunged forward, grabbing Jade’s wrist in a vise-like grip.
“You-”
Knock, knock, knock-
A sudden knock at the door interrupted them.
Hudson looked over to see Kevin standing there.
“Mr. Walter, the international video conference is about to begin.”
Taking advantage of the distraction, Jade yanked her hand free from Hudson’s grip and quickly walked out of the room.
Watching her retreating figure, a wave of restless irritation surged in Hudson’s chest.
Did she seriously want a divorce? 2
But she clearly loved him so much…
Kevin handed the documents in his hands over to Hudson.
“Mr. Walter, Mrs. Walter went to the hospital for a checkup a couple of days ago. The medical reports are all here.”
Hudson took the envelope. He pulled the corner of a paper out, only to shove it right back in.
“is the meeting starting soon?”
Kevin nodded.
“Yes, sir.”
Hudson tossed the document envelope onto the bed.
“Let’s head to the study for the meeting first.”
The two men quickly left the master bedroom. Shortly after, Amara appeared in the doorway.

“Hudson? Hudson, are you in here?”

Hearing no response, Amara noticed the envelope sitting on the bed out of the corner of her eye. She walked over, picked it up, and pulled out the papers inside.
With just one glance, her face drastically changed, her eyes nearly popping out of her head.
Jade…
Jade was actually pregnant?!
It took Amara a full ten seconds to process this bombshell.
The next second, her eyes turned incredibly dark. She slipped the specific ultrasound report confirming Jade’s pregnancy out of the stack, crumpled it up, and shoved it up her sleeve.
Hudson was the ultimate lifeline for her and Cortney. She absolutely could not allow anything to go wrong with him.
Judging from Jade’s recent reactions, not only did she want a divorce, but she also wanted to hide her pregnancy from the Walter family.
If that was the case, then Amara would gladly grant her wish!
An hour later, the international video conference ended.
Exhausted, Hudson pinched the bridge of his nose as he returned to the master bedroom from the study.
Seeing the envelope still sitting on the bed, he walked over, picked it up, and pulled out the remaining medical reports to read.
Jade was slightly anemic and deficient in vitamins; she needed to eat more fruits and vegetables.
