Chapter 67 The Mirror Effect
Jade’s expression remained entirely flat.
“If you say so.”
Hudson’s voice dropped an octave, turning even more intense.
“You don’t believe me?”

Jade let out a dry, hollow laugh. “You’ve done everything but the final act. Does it even matter if I believe you?”
Hudson’s pupils contracted sharply. He opened his mouth, but Jade cut him off.
“Besides, I’m out of the house now. You can do whatever you want without hiding. Isn’t that what you’ve always wanted? Why come find me just to invite more drama? Amara will just feel ‘wronged’ again, and we’ll all be miserable.”
“Jade.”
Hudson’s voice was a low growl, his teeth gritted.
“I’m telling you the truth, not looking for your sarcasm!”
“It doesn’t matter anymore.”
Jade lowered her gaze.
“I’ve signed the papers. You need to sign them too so we can finalize this at City Hall. Unless you want the Walter family and the Group’s reputation dragged through the mud when your affair goes public.”
Hudson narrowed his sharp, predatory eyes.
“Are you threatening me?”
Jade looked him dead in the eye.
“I’m stating a fact.”
It was the first time Hudson had been met with such iron-clad defiance from her.
“And if I refuse to sign?”

“Then my attorney will see you in court. Enjoy the lawsuit.” Her tone was as calm as a frozen lake.
Hudson let out a sharp, angry laugh, the shadow in his eyes deepening.
“You wouldn’t dare.”
“If you don’t believe me, feel free to find out.”
Jade turned to the door, pressed her thumb to the scanner, and slipped inside. Slam.
Once the door was locked, she collapsed against it, her palms slick with cold sweat.
“Negotiating” with Hudson Walter took every single ounce of strength she possessed.
In the past, even a mention of his name would have brought her to tears.
But now she understood that tears were a currency Hudson didn’t value.
Showing vulnerability to someone who didn’t care was just handing them a weapon to use against her.

She had no one left to protect her; she had to be the wall that guarded her and her baby.
Jade waited until her heart stopped racing, then stood up and poured herself a glass of water.
Jewell had texted her earlier saying Memoria Script Studio had a massive order. All the designers were pulled in for a late-night shift.
So Jade was alone in the quiet apartment, slowly mapping out her next steps.
Tomorrow was a day off for the studio, and she planned to check the apartment her mother had left her.
But the keys were locked in a safe back at the villa.
It seemed she’d have to return to that house one more time before she could truly leave.

At Mclaren’s Pub.
Hudson was slumped on a leather sofa, two buttons of his black shirt undone to reveal his collarbone.

Charles sat across from him, laughing so hard he could barely breathe.
“Hahaha-”
When he finally caught his breath, Charles began to tease him.
“What did I tell you? Your ‘explanation’ was never going to fly. One minute you’re the king of the world, and the next, you’re hit by your own boomerang. How does it feel seeing your wife in another man’s car? Why didn’t you take your own advice and ‘coexist’ with your rival?”
Hudson looked at Charles, his jaw tight, before he drained his glass in one gulp.
