“Nothing important, just taking care of some things.”
“Well… will you be at The Thomas Group tomorrow?”
“Yes, I’ll be there. Why?”
“I’ll come find you at the office tomorrow, then. We can talk when I see you.”
Lana hung up, leaving Niamh tilting her head in confusion. The last time they’d spoken, they had argued bitterly, and the tension had lingered in Niamh’s mind. The root of their problem was Jarrett, so she hadn't pushed to explain herself or reconcile. Now, Lana was calling her, her voice sounding perfectly normal, as if their fight had never happened.
Jarrett must have come to his senses and made up with her, Niamh thought. Lana was her best friend from high school, just like Elmer. She cherished their precious friendship, and if Lana was no longer angry or misunderstanding her, it was a huge relief.
Still, Niamh couldn’t understand why Lana kept insisting on meeting at The Thomas Group. If she wanted to make up, why not just come to her house? Or was there something else she needed help with?
