His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 505

Adrian POV

Thalia and Amber are talking and laughing. Thalia told me that she was going to interrogate her. She was going to make sure she felt relaxed, then hopefully get her to open up.

I don’t want to intrude on their time together, but I want to be close enough to hear what she has to say.

“This has been great spending time with you, Amber. I needed girl time,” Thalia said.

Amber smiled genuinely. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen her smile so radiantly. “It is nice. I haven’t had this in a long while.”

“Why not? Blue Moon keeping you busy?”

“Something like that,” Amber said.

“It seems like you and Aiden are doing better. I noticed that you guys were a bit strained there for a while. Is everything good now?”

Amber’s eyes well up. “I messed up, Thalia.”

Thalia’s eyebrows furrowed. “What happened?”

“I can’t tell you,” she said.

“Why? I could help you, you know that, right?”

“I can’t be helped. I need to go for a little bit and clear my head. I’ll talk to you later, okay?”

“Okay. I’m here if you need me or want to talk, alright?” Thalia said.

“Thank you, sis. I mean it. No matter what happens, thank you.”

No matter what happens? What does that even mean? I’m losing my mind. Amber leaves Thalia by herself and walks off. Once she is out of sight, I walk over to Thalia.

“You heard that, right?” Thalia said.

“I did. I don’t understand what she means by ‘no matter what happens’.”

“Neither do I. Nyx is telling me something is very wrong, Adrian.”

My chest tightens. “Very wrong, how?”

Thalia sighed, “I couldn’t read her thoughts once we got to this subject about the two of you. I did, however, see something. The catalyst, if you will. After that, everything becomes distorted.”

“What was the catalyst?”

“During the first year of your relationship, she thought you were involved with another she-wolf. She saw you flirting with her, and it broke her heart. She left crying, and the memory became distorted until she came back and understood that you were not flirting with that she-wolf. You were planning a surprise for Amber, and that she-wolf was helping you with the surprise. Everything in between, I can see, read, hear, nothing.”
