Hazel blinked, shooting another glance at Serena.
Serena silently shook her head.
Catching the hint immediately, Hazel put on a perfectly serious tone and started spinning a lie. “Ah, I actually already sneaked in to see Serena, but she's throwing a party with her teammates tonight. She doesn't have time to get dinner with us.”
Julian let out a soft chuckle on the other end of the line. “Alright. I'll take you to that famous Severian barbecue place tonight, and we'll go watch my sister's match together tomorrow.”
Hazel's eyes lit up, and she instantly agreed.
After hanging up, Hazel smacked her lips, still savoring the thought of the food, and muttered quietly, “Honestly, Julian is such a great guy. He's handsome, wealthy, cooks well, and really knows his food.”
Serena looked at her. “So go enjoy the food with my brother.”
She paused, a trace of helplessness slipping into her tone. “Don't keep my brother waiting.”
Hazel blinked, finally catching the teasing undertone in her words. The tips of her ears turned slightly red, and she aggressively changed the subject. “Anyway, just be careful out there. Get in, check it out, and get out fast. This isn't Vaelion City, and it isn't our turf.”
“I know.” Serena pushed the door open and stepped out.
Under the cover of night, the red sports car quickly spun around and disappeared down the end of the street.
Serena tugged down the brim of her hood, stuffing her hands into her pockets.
She turned and headed in the direction of the Tech Nexus.
...
At night, the Severia Tech Nexus looked even more imposing than it did during the day.
As the ivory tower of the international medical field.
The skyscraper was built to be exceptionally luxurious and futuristic.
Serena bypassed the main entrance and primary patrol zones, scaling the rear flank from a blind spot.
She landed without a sound.
She circled the entire perimeter of the building.
Along the way, there was almost nothing out of the ordinary.
Just legitimate top-tier laboratories, high-tech display areas, and solemn academic lecture halls.
Security was tight, but it was merely the standard rigorous security expected of a world-class research facility.
