A faint touch of color even returned to her cheeks.
Ten minutes later.
Serena retrieved her needles. "She's stable."
Nicholas seamlessly took over. "The rest is arranged. An ambulance from the Blackwood Private Medical Center is downstairs. We're moving her immediately."
Serena nodded.
Once Mrs. Sommers was securely inside a Blackwood facility, the Doyles could move heaven and earth, and they still wouldn't be able to touch her.
Serena pulled a notepad from her pocket, scribbled down a prescription, and handed it to Nicholas. "Have your doctors use this to rebuild her strength."
Nicholas took the note and stepped out to handle the logistics.
Caleb stared at the scene, feeling like he had just woken up from a nightmare.
He swallowed hard, his throat tight, and looked at Serena with bloodshot eyes.
Suddenly, his legs gave out, and he collapsed to the floor, his head bowed. "Captain... thank you. Thank you."
The greatest crisis of his life, the trap that made him want to end it all.
It was gone.
Dismantled in minutes by Serena and Nicholas.
He owed her a debt he could never repay...
He kept thanking her, entirely overcome.
"Stand up."
Serena caught his arm and hauled him back to his feet. "Save your strength. I handled your problem."
"The Blackwood family will protect your grandmother now. The Doyles are arrogant, but they wouldn't dare cross the Blackwoods."
"Your worries are gone."
