The hall fell silent. The truth was, half the Lunas in that room hadn’t wanted any part of Estelle’s games. They only showed up because of her status.
Everyone was silently cheering inside.
No wonder she’s General Conlay’s daughter. She’s got steel in her.
Morgana stared at Laila, and a strange rush of satisfaction welled up in her chest. Sure, she hated Laila-hated her for stealing Samuel. But right now, watching her go toe-to-toe with Estelle and Jenna without even mentioning Samuel’s name-that took guts.
The thought made her even more pleased.
“She looks just like that bitch.” Estelle’s wolf let out a low snarl inside her.
Estelle didn’t respond. Her eyes were pinned on Laila, and twenty years of hatred was clawing its way loose.
Too alike.
Those eyes, that spine, the way she didn’t scream or flinch when provoked-just looked back, calm and steady, as if she were the one holding the upper hand in this game.
She was exactly like Diana.
If it weren’t for that bitch, Kain would have been hers.
She would’ve been happy. She would’ve been marked by him, borne his pups, been held in his arms on every full-moon night, feeling their heartbeats merge into one.
Not like this.
Estelle narrowed her eyes.
By then, Laila had pulled back her Alpha pressure and stepped forward to present her gift.
Jenna glanced at the item and said coolly, “It looks like a painting. I wonder who made it?” She drew out her final words, “-Surely it wasn’t just something picked up randomly off the street?”
Laila smiled faintly.

“Even if it were something grabbed off a street stall, it’s still my
sincere regards.”

She paused, her gaze skipping past Jenna and landing on Estelle, who sat with a composed, stony expression.
“Just like the ‘gift’ Luna Estelle sent my mother the year my father and brothers died-a pair of broken wolf fangs locked in silver chains. That was also … sincere regards.”
Her voice wasn’t loud, but every word was razor-clear.
“The sheepskin scroll in the box read: ‘These fangs represent the last fangs of the Conlay bloodline-now that they are broken, the bloodline shall end.”
The hall went dead silent.
A deathly kind of silence.
Like mountains holding their breath before an avalanche.
This had never been made public before.
The Lunas in the room exchanged glances-
That’s monstrous. General Conlay died for this kingdom. How could a princess of Rydar send something so vile?
Morgana sucked in a sharp breath.
She’d always feared Estelle and never confronted her head-on.
But right now, those words seemed to claw their way out of her throat on their own, as if her wolf spirit had shoved them loose.
“Broken fangs… the bloodline shall end?” Her voice was tight. “Is that a curse for the Conlay line to be wiped out for all generations?”
Others might not know, but she did.
If nothing changed, Samuel was definitely going to form a mate bond with Laila.
So, if this curse doomed the Conlay bloodline to ‘end,’ didn’t that mean Samuel would never have pups?
She feared Estelle.
