Estelle shot to her feet. The velvet cushion behind her slid off the chair and hit the floor.

“Vaughn, do you even hear yourself? Do you know what you’re saying? Who is she? And who am I? You’re asking me to argue in public with that woman’s daughter?”

Her chest rose and fell fast. In her mind, her wolf spirit howled in rage.

“And even if we clear things up, so what? What will people say about me?
