Chapter 163 The Last Bloodline

Samuel’s POV:

It was finally confirmed.

The child really was Raymond.

The Conlays had at least left behind a bit of their bloodline.

I just didn’t know how this kid had managed to get out in the first place. On the night of the massacre, how had he escaped the assassins’ hunt?

And after escaping, how had he ended up in the hands of those Umbra Order bastards?

I had stayed by his side these past days, but I couldn’t get any information out of him.

He had been poisoned into muteness. His throat was completely ruined.

At first, when I called him “Raymond,” he had reacted a little. His eyes would move, and he would turn his head to look at me. But maybe he didn’t recognize me. After just a couple of days, he went back to that state again. Blank. Dull. Or suddenly going mad, smashing things and biting.

I had people investigate where he came from.

But those Umbra Order scum came and went. No one remembered where this child had come from.

I walked over and lowered my voice. “It’s confirmed. It’s him. Go get something to eat and rest. I’ll stay here.”

She shook her head and rubbed at the tear stains on her face with her sleeve. The fabric was already soaked, and it did not dry anything.

“I’ll stay with him,” she said hoarsely. “I’m scared that if he wakes up and doesn’t see me… he’ll be afraid.”

She had not let go of Raymond’s hand once.

His nails were still digging into her skin, drawing blood, and she seemed completely unaware.

I looked at her and did not try to persuade her again.

“Alright. I’ll have someone bring you some food

I turned and went out, arranging for the wolf healer to stay in the side hall and telling the servants to take good care of him.
