My ex husband wants me back (Daven and Althea) novel Chapter 763

Chapter 763

“I’ll try to come home as soon as possible,” she said at last.

“I hope so.” Althea’s voice turned gentler. “Nathan keeps asking about Cale and all of you. Even if he’s stubborn, he actually wants you to come visit him.”

A faint smile appeared on Lydia’s lips.

Nathan rarely showed his affection openly, but the older man had always cared deeply for his family in his own quiet way.

“I’ll talk to Cale after this.”

“Don’t make him panic when you tell him,” Althea said quickly. “Nathan’s condition is already better now. I just don’t want Cale hearing about this from someone else.”

Lydia could already imagine how her husband would react.

On the outside, Cale often seemed cold and unreadable. But when it came to his family, he could become far more emotional than anyone expected.

“I understand.”

Althea went quiet for a few seconds before asking softly, “Lydia… what exactly happened over there?”

Lydia’s gaze slowly softened when she looked at Naomi, who was now watching her with anxious eyes.

“I’ll explain later,” Lydia replied quietly. “Everything’s still too chaotic right now.”

For a few moments, the only sound between them was the rain.

Then Althea let out a long sigh. “Alright. But promise me you’ll call again once things calm down.”

“I promise.”

“And take good care of yourself.”

After the call ended, Lydia slowly lowered her phone.

Naomi immediately asked in a quiet voice, “What happened? It sounded like… something bad?”

Lydia gave her a faint smile, trying to appear calm. “For now, yes. But it looks like we’ll have to return to Sun City soon.”

Naomi’s expression instantly filled with even more guilt.

Lydia could see the change clearly on the girl’s face.

“Don’t start blaming yourself again,” Lydia said gently. She stood up and walked over to Naomi before sitting down on the edge of the bed beside her. “You were a victim tonight too.”

Naomi lowered her head without saying a word.

Lydia let out a soft sigh before glancing back at her phone screen. There was another name that had been dominating her missed calls list for a while now.

Chris.

Without waiting any longer, Lydia immediately pressed the call button. The phone was answered within seconds.

“Lydia?” Chris’s voice sounded both confused and relieved. “Finally. Where exactly are you guys?”

“Why?” Lydia asked, puzzled. It wasn’t like Chris to ask something like that so urgently.

“I’m at your house.”

“What?!” Lydia’s eyes widened in shock. She definitely hadn’t expected Chris to be there. “You’re… at our house?”

“Yeah.” Chris sounded like he was pacing back and forth on the other end of the line. “I seriously thought all of you disappeared or something. The servants only said you went to some important gathering with the Chen family.”

Lydia slowly massaged her temple. Her mind truly felt overloaded tonight.

“Who’s the Chen family? Are they Cale’s business partners here?”

Instead of answering immediately, Lydia called his name softly.

“Chris.”

The seriousness in her tone made him fall silent at once.

“Is something wrong?”

Lydia stared at Naomi for a long moment before finally speaking.

“Come here. We’ll talk here instead.”

“Huh?”

“I’ll send you the location now.”

Chris sounded even more confused. “Whose house is it?”

“The Chen family residence.”

Silence filled the call for a few moments.

“Are you involved in something bad?” Chris’s voice had turned much more alert now. “Lydia, what the hell is going on?”
