Christopher glanced at Lucas and, without saying a word, slapped him across the face!
Smack!
Lucas's face hadn't healed yet, and now, being slapped by his own father, the corner of his mouth started bleeding again.
"Dad, why... why did you hit me!" Lucas looked miserable.
"I hit you because I told you not to touch that stuff! You actually helped smuggle it privately. You deserve to die! Look at this—because of your actions, the Maddox Corporation's market value evaporated by billions overnight! You really are a screw-up!"
Lucas lowered his head. He said aggrievedly, "Dad, don't be angry. I was just momentarily possessed. I agreed to help a friend. Who knew this would happen? I won't do it again."
"You think there will be a next time? This time, the whole family is going to be dragged down by you!" Christopher gritted his teeth, hating that his son failed to live up to expectations.
Lucas kept his head down, afraid to speak.
"Now the company is facing a massive crisis. You really know how to cause trouble for me!" Christopher felt a splitting headache.
Just then, an assistant entered.
"Mr. Maddox, the CEO of Aurelis Holdings Group has agreed to meet with us."
"Really?"
"Yes. Should we go now, Sir?"
"Good! I'll go! If we can win over Aurelis Holdings, the Maddox family can survive this crisis safely!"
Christopher glared at Lucas. "Why haven't you cleaned yourself up yet? Come with me to meet the CEO of Aurelis!"
"Yes."
Father and son arrived at the hotel, feeling somewhat apprehensive.
"Dad, the CEO of Aurelis, is very hard to book. You tried several times before without success. Why did he suddenly agree this time?" Lucas asked.
"How should I know? Anyway, seeing us gives us hope. If you hadn't caused this mess, I wouldn't have to lower my head to meet him!"
They reached the door, where two guards stood.
