"Wow! She's so generous. Buying the whole department coffee on her first day!"
"And she's so pretty, too. She has such great class."
"I'd love to be friends with her!"
The office was instantly buzzing with excitement.
Theresa just kept her head down and focused on her work, grabbing a stack of documents to take to the filing room.
Just then, Lorna spoke up. "Could someone point me toward the restroom?"
Charles, eager to play the loyal lapdog, jumped at the chance. "Ms. Avery, I know where it is! Let me show you the way!"
He led the way, and when he saw Theresa in the aisle, he aggressively shoved her aside.
Theresa was left completely speechless.
Acting like a total kiss-ass, Charles practically bowed to Lorna. "Ms. Avery, it's just right up ahead. By the way, let me introduce myself. I'm Charles, one of the senior staff here. If you ever need anything at all around the office, just come straight to me!"
Lorna smiled sweetly. "Thank you so much, Mr. Maddox."
"No need to be so formal! Just call me Charles! Do you mind if I call you Lorna?"
"Sure, that's fine!"
Watching the two of them walk away, Theresa felt a wave of disgust.
Charles was really taking the art of sucking up to a whole new level.
After returning from the filing room, Theresa got back to compiling data reports.
Even though Rachel Ward made things difficult for her at every turn, Theresa had undeniably learned a lot since joining the company.
