After hearing this, Scarlett simply couldn't believe these words were coming from Daphne.
She had always treated her like a close friend, sharing all the good things with her. That was why she had felt safe entrusting her son to her.
As it turned out, the woman had been harboring such ruthless ambition the entire time.
"Mrs. Sinclair, since everything is out in the open, it's not my place to say anything else. I'll leave it to you to handle," Elena said.
Scarlett was reeling from the heavy blow, and Anna quickly stepped in to support her.
"I understand. Guards, drag her out of here! I'm not letting this go. I want her thrown in jail!"
As Daphne was dragged away, Ethan was so happy he practically danced with joy.
"The big chicken is gone! The big chicken is gone! Yay, yay, yay!"
Anna asked in confusion, "Mr. Sinclair, why do you call her a big chicken?"
Ethan replied innocently, "Because she likes to peck me. It hurts a lot."
Scarlett's heart twisted in agony as she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Ethan.
"My sweet boy, it's Mom's fault. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have sent you away. If I had just kept you by my side and spent more time taking care of you, you wouldn't have had to go through this. How have you survived these past few years?! Scarlett choked out through her sobs, her voice raw with grief.
Ethan didn't understand why Scarlett was crying. He picked up an apple and handed it to her.
"Mommy, don't cry. Eat an apple. The apples are so yummy, but the big chicken never let me have any. She said the apples were hers..."
Hearing him mutter these things made everyone in the room feel completely awful.
After dealing with the situation, Elena intended to leave the Sinclair estate, but Ethan kept pulling on her, refusing to let her go.
Scarlett asked Elena to take Ethan outside to play for a little bit, suggesting she leave once he felt more settled.
Watching Ethan happily munching on his apple without a care in the world, Elena couldn't help but think of her own older brother.
Although her brother was much better off than Ethan, his mind still wasn't quite right.
There was a special group of people in this world who simply needed more love and care.
