Reborn Fake Heiress Watch the Whole Family Burn novel Chapter 686

"What's wrong?"

"That house makes me feel suffocated."

"Where to now, then?"

An idea suddenly struck Dylan.

"I'm taking you somewhere."

With that, Dylan and Elena grabbed a cab and arrived at an apartment building.

"Come on in. This is a property I bought on my own. How about we make this our secret base from now on?"

Elena took a look around. At over two thousand square feet, it was massive for an apartment.

"It's perfect. Since you don't want to go back to the Sinclair estate, let's just stay here tonight!"

Dylan stepped closer, his warm breath brushing against her face. "Then you have to stay and keep me company."

A tingling sensation spread across Elena's cheeks.

The unique scent of vanilla clinging to the man, mixed with the faint smell of alcohol, was surprisingly intoxicating.

"Alright, I'll stay," Elena said.

"But I need to call my parents first. They're probably worried sick about me!"

"Okay, I'll go take a shower first," Dylan said softly.

After that, he headed toward the bathroom, and soon the sound of running water echoed through the room.

Elena made her call to check in, setting Daniel and Amanda's minds at ease.

Shortly after, Dylan finished his shower and returned to the room.

Elena happened to push the door open at that exact moment, prompting Dylan to hastily cover himself with a towel.

"Elena, why didn't you knock?"

Elena curled her lips into a smirk. "It's just the two of us here. What's the point of knocking?"

"But I am still a man."

"Since when did you get so shy? I've already seen every inch of you, haven't I?"

She cursed herself silently.

"Elena, it's nothing. Compared to Sean, this is barely a scratch."

Elena glared at him. "Why are you comparing yourself to him? You still should have told me."

Elena searched the apartment and found a first-aid kit stocked with some ointment.

She brought it over and began carefully applying it to Dylan's back.

"That day, when I saw Sean lying in a pool of his own blood, broken and battered just for you, I was genuinely shocked. Part of me even wished it were me instead. I realized I had never sacrificed that much for you, and honestly, I was jealous of him."

Elena pressed the cotton swab down hard against one of his wounds.

"What kind of absolute nonsense are you spouting! How could you be jealous of something like that? He almost lost his life!"

The sudden pressure stung, causing Dylan to wince, but a blissfully happy smile spread across his face anyway.

"Dylan, I'm warning you. If you ever say something like that again, I'm going to ignore you completely. I'll just leave!"

Dylan caught Elena's hand and pulled her gently into his embrace.
