In Charles's eyes, the manager was just another lowly servant.
Butler Avery swallowed his pride, let out a heavy sigh, and went to make the arrangements.
Lorna resumed her role as the gracious hostess, taking the group on a guided tour of the sprawling grounds.
Shortly after, Butler Avery directed the staff to bring out an extravagant spread of gourmet food.
The coworkers immediately swarmed the tables, snapping photos of every dish for their social media.
Lorna casually swirled a crystal glass of wine, soaking up the adoration.
"Manager, go get me another bottle of wine! Make sure it's the expensive stuff!" Charles waved his hand aggressively at Butler Avery, barking orders as if he owned the place.
Butler Avery had never met such an incredibly rude guest. Even Mr. Ellington and Theresa never ordered him around with such disrespect. They always treated him with basic dignity.
But looking at Lorna, he swallowed his anger, sighed, and went to fetch the wine.
After knocking back a few glasses, Charles loudly suggested they visit the estate's garage.
"Lorna, doesn't your family have a massive collection of luxury cars?" he asked.
"Uh... yeah?"
"Then take us to see them! Let us peasants expand our horizons!"
Lorna looked uneasy.
"Come on, Lorna," another coworker begged. "We've only ever seen those kinds of supercars in movies. We're already here—just give us a quick peek!"
Cornered by their pleading eyes, Lorna nodded. "Alright. Follow me."
She led the excited group toward the back of the property.
Seeing them head out, Butler Avery rushed over, assuming they were leaving.
"Are you heading out?" he asked, feeling a wave of relief.
"No way, Lorna's taking us to check out the luxury cars!" a coworker beamed.
Butler Avery's blood ran cold. He panicked.
