Victor stared at her for a second before a booming laugh echoed through the room. "I can't believe it. My little girl has really grown up. To play a psychological game like that and win..."
"I wasn't completely empty-handed," Theresa added, pulling her phone from her pocket. "The second he started confessing, I hit record. Now I have him dead to rights. If he ever tries to cross me again, this audio file will end him."
Victor’s shock deepened into immense pride.
His once naive, hot-tempered daughter was now a master tactician.
"You never cease to amaze me. Tell me, who taught you to be this ruthless?"
"Elena taught me a few things. And Logan, too."
Victor nodded thoughtfully. He knew he had chosen the right people to surround her with.
"I had no idea how terrifying your situation in Myantara truly was. Thinking about what you endured breaks my heart."
"It's over, Dad. It was terrifying, but Elena and Logan pulled me out. I survived, and I'm stronger for it. So... does this mean I can finally take the CEO position?"
Victor nodded without hesitation. "Yes, you've proven you have the temperament and the ruthlessness required to lead."
She was no longer the impulsive heiress who wore her heart on her sleeve. She was calculated, poised, and lethal.
That was exactly what Victor needed to see to let her take control.
"Tomorrow morning, I will convene the board and officially transfer my shares to you. You will step up as the CEO of the Ellington Group."
"Thank you, Dad. But what about Andrew and Julian?"
"Leave them to me. There will be no leniency this time. I don't care if the entire extended family turns against me—I will pave a clear, bloodless path for your reign."
Theresa left the executive suite feeling lighter than she had in months.
She was finally done rotting in the sales department.
Returning to her cubicle, she immediately began packing her belongings into a cardboard box.
