Eric shot Lilian a disgruntled look. "You aren't even married yet and you're already taking his side. I suppose it's true what they say about daughters not staying home. If Sebastian and I ever get into a fight, I'll probably be the only one getting thrashed."
Lilian laughed. "Alright, is that any way to tease your own cousin? Careful, or I'll tell Grandfather on you when I get back."
"Fine, fine," Eric said, his gaze softening. "I'll stop, okay?"
By then, Sebastian had already descended the steps and was giving instructions to those nearby. A black sedan pulled up slowly beside him. Foster stepped forward and opened the door, waiting to one side.
Once Sebastian finished speaking, he walked toward the car. Just as he was about to get in, his gaze turned sharp as a hawk, sweeping toward Lilian’s direction.
Foster followed the man’s line of sight, looking confused. "Is something wrong?"
Sebastian frowned. From the moment he stepped out of the office building, he felt a gaze fixed on him. However, he eventually shook his head. "No, I might be overthinking it." He then stepped into the car.
Back in their vehicle, Eric saw the man look directly toward them and chuckled. "As expected of Sebastian. His senses are so sharp that he can detect us from this distance. He really is a monster. No wonder people tremble at the mention of his name and no one dares provoke him."
Lilian watched the car pull away, her eyes filled with lingering longing. "No one dares provoke him? That old fogey dared to, and he’s caused so much trouble this time."
Eric smiled. "Don't worry. That old man is no match for Sebastian. Just wait for the charity gala in two days. I expect it will be quite a show."
A glint of mischief flashed in Lilian’s eyes. "To get ready to deal with Everly, of course. Since you said I’m useless on the front lines, I’ll focus on the rear. I’m going to make sure she’s the center of attention at the gala—and not in a good way."
Seeing Lilian's cunning expression, Eric asked, "What do you plan to do?"
Lilian’s smile turned mysterious. "I'm going to wait for the target to show itself. I don't believe Everly will stay inside the Chris family estate forever. Instead of being afraid they'll find us, we might as well hang around right under their noses. As they say, the most dangerous place is the safest. I refuse to believe I won't catch them slipping up."
"No, that's too dangerous," Eric said worriedly. "If you want to keep an eye on Everly, I can send people to do it. If you go yourself and run into trouble, I won't be able to answer to Grandfather. Besides, if Cary catches you at a time like this, wouldn't he just have another bargaining chip to use against Sebastian?"
