Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 897

Janet let out a cold laugh. "What’s the matter, Miss Everly? Is the truth too much to handle? I haven't said anything wrong. Are you not desperately trying to climb the social ladder? If I remember correctly, only two weeks ago, you were photographed entering a hotel with a man from the Claria family. Have you forgotten so quickly? Then again, Miss Everly has so many male companions that she probably can’t keep track of them all. You really shouldn't be so arrogant; everyone trips up eventually."

Turning to Uriel, Janet said, "Mom and I will head out now. We’ll leave you to your chat." She then pulled Martha toward the exit.

As she reached the door, she paused and looked back at Everly’s venomous expression. With a smile, she added, "I’ll be waiting for the day you actually become the mistress of the Austin family." She then turned and left.

Uriel watched Everly’s suppressed fury and couldn't help but chuckle. She never expected that Janet, who usually seemed so mild-mannered, had such a sharp edge. It made her wonder what kind of woman Sebastian’s actual fiancée was.

Everly turned around and saw Uriel smiling. "You seem very amused," she said icily.

"I am," Uriel replied. "Janet made an excellent point. Miss Everly, it would be wise to stop broadcasting your engagement to Sebastian for the time being. Nothing is certain yet. It won't be too late to talk once Sebastian actually makes a public announcement."

Everly sat across from Uriel, her posture perfect. She smiled and asked, "Do you really believe there will be any change regarding the alliance between our families? You should know that my father gave him two choices. If he refuses the marriage, there's no telling what will happen to Austine Financial Group."

"Aren't you afraid the Austin family will vanish from Murica?" Everly called out to her back.

Uriel paused for a moment. "It doesn't matter. I’ll view it as a trial for Sebastian. I’ve been curious to see whether my son has progressed or regressed over the past few years. In a way, I should thank Cary for providing this opportunity after all his painstaking schemes." With that, she left.

Everly stared at the closing door, her eyes glinting with a cold, sinister light.
