She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 327

Robert briefly summarized the situation, focusing on Cyrilla. "Apparently, on the recent monthly exam at Victory High School, Cyrilla accused her classmate Giselle of cheating. The rumor is that Giselle's tutor used her connections to get the answers, which is how she made it into the top fifty. The matter has reached the Board of Education, but there's no concrete evidence of cheating. Do you think you should go to the school tomorrow to handle it?"

Lucian emotionlessly picked up a file and began to read. "From now on, you don't need to tell me anything about Loyce."

Robert was struck dumb. He hadn't said a single word about Loyce!

He stole a glance at the cold man sitting behind the desk. He had no idea what had happened, but ever since Lucian had returned from delivering gifts to the Lonsdale family, he had been in a foul mood, radiating a constant chill that warned everyone to keep their distance.

One oblivious soldier had even joked with Lucian, asking how things were progressing with Loyce and when they could expect a wedding toast. He was promptly punished with 20 laps around the training field that night and collapsed from exhaustion.

Robert mulled it over and asked quietly, "Then, should we do something about Cyrilla?"

Lucian's lips curled. "Do you think Loyce is stupid?"

Robert's mind screamed: He was talking about Cyrilla! Cyrilla! Did Lucian's ears automatically filter everything into Loyce's name?

Though he was losing his mind internally, Robert maintained a respectful demeanor. "Of course Loyce isn't stupid. I'm sure her poor performance in high school was a choice she made for her doting family."

Loyce was endlessly indulgent with her own family, a trait also evident in her dealings with the Lonsdales.

If she considered you one of her own, she would be fiercely protective.

Lucian, of course, understood this. Right now, he was incredibly, intensely jealous of the Lonsdales. They could eat with her, ask her out whenever they wanted, go on vacation with her—do anything with her.

And him? She was always trying to distance herself from him. She had even returned several of his gifts. The only one she'd kept was the haute couture gown, and only because he had specifically instructed the store clerk to write on the card that it was custom-made to her unique measurements; if she didn't accept it, it would be discarded.

The thought only soured Lucian's mood further. Robert could almost see snowflakes starting to fall around him.

His heart trembled. Racking his brain, he had a flash of inspiration. "A couple of days ago, the principal of Victory High School emailed the base again. He's hoping that after the seniors' monthly exams, we can partner with them for a winter camp. The military would provide the venue, and it would be a joint promotional event."
