She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 341

“Lucian can’t stand me now,” Cyrilla said after a long, brooding pause. “Maybe that bitch Loyce was right.”

Saphira lowered her voice, trying to rein her in. “Cyrilla, you’re still in school. Watch your language.”

Cyrilla rolled her eyes so hard it was practically a performance. “Mom, everyone at school knows she’s a bitch. It’s not like I’m the only one saying it.”

She lifted her chin and glanced at the bedroom wall, where sketches and fashion drafts were taped up in neat rows. “And what, she thinks she’s amazing because she has money? Because she’s smart? If I had money, I’d be ten times better than her.” Her voice sharpened with pride. “I’m going to be a famous designer one day.”

Saphira didn’t argue again. There was no point.

Emma’s farm welcomed its first official harvest of *Frost Peppermint*. Pharmacists wearing CoreWell Pharmacy badges moved in and out of her fields, while a cluster of big-name department heads from the military hospital stayed close, listening patiently as Emma explained her cultivation methods.

It still didn’t feel real.

She was a widowed woman from the countryside—nothing special, no connections—yet one plant her husband had left behind had flipped her entire life upside down.

That night, when she looked at her bank balance and saw the string of zeros, she couldn’t hold it in. She clutched her husband’s black-and-white photo and cried until her chest hurt. Before he died, the man she loved had already paved a road for her and their daughter.

From now on, her little girl could finally have pretty new clothes, take any classes she wanted, pick up hobbies just because they were fun—no fear, no scraping by.

Giselle seemed better lately, too. Ever since she’d gotten into the school’s top track and her mom had been advised to file some kind of patent, their whole family’s life had started to improve.

Anyone with eyes could see it.

Of course, some classmates whispered anyway.

“What else could it be? She latched onto some rich girl and became her little sidekick. Got a bit of spending money. So what? She’ll never compare to Cyrilla.”

Ever since that day Lucian showed up at the assembly hall and casually caught Cyrilla when she stumbled, the rumor that they were secretly involved had become practically “confirmed” in the student body’s mind.

What Cyrilla had done—teaming up in public with some returned-from-abroad PhD to frame Loyce for plagiarism—was ugly. But with the aura of *future Mrs. Shapiro* hanging over her, people chose to shut their eyes and cover their ears, smiling and staying friendly.

If anything, Cyrilla came out of it untouched.
