She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 428

"I have the handover documents, and the contracts are signed. What do you think? Can I fire you?"

Ms. Walker was instantly silenced. She knew the Seabrook family would make Loyce's life hell, but her own last name wasn't Seabrook. She couldn't afford to completely burn bridges with the official new director. She'd let the higher-ups handle the dirty work.

Swallowing her rage, Ms. Walker gestured stiffly. "Then follow me. I've relayed your meeting requirements to all the executives. Whether they show up or not is out of my hands. I can't control them."

They hadn't walked more than a few steps when a woman wearing glasses, her eyes red and puffy, hurried toward them and stopped directly in front of Loyce. "Are you the new Director?"

Loyce nodded.

The next second, the woman shoved a resignation letter into her hands. "I quit. I don't even want severance. Please approve this immediately. I'll pack up my desk and leave right now."

Before Loyce could ask a single question, the woman turned on her heel to walk away.

Loyce opened the letter and checked the name and title at the bottom.

Jean Morgan.

Fabric Development Manager & Purchasing Specialist.

Loyce paused, then turned to call out, "Wait."

Jean stopped and looked back. "Is there something else, Director?"

"Come to my office in an hour. We need to talk," Loyce ordered. "I am not approving this resignation today."

Jean bit her lip. Though confused, she nodded. "Alright."

Top-Floor Conference Room.

Ms. Walker pushed the doors open. The massive, luxurious room was completely empty.

Loyce checked her watch again. Less than ten minutes until the meeting. As she suspected, these people didn't take her seriously at all. Unbothered, she walked straight to the head of the table and sat down in the executive leather chair.
