She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 518

"How can you just hand it over? Does this Lonsdale heiress even know how to run a business?" a young woman nearby chimed in analytically. "From what I've seen online, she only studies medicine. I heard she's good at being a doctor? Oh, and she plays the piano. But those are soft skills. They have nothing to do with corporate warfare. A person only has so much time in a day; she can't possibly master business too. If Mr. Edgar hands the company to her, isn't that just a death sentence for Macrostar? Tens of thousands of people will lose their jobs. That's a massive blow to the economy!"

Her voice carried easily, and the surrounding guests nodded, finding her logic incredibly sound.

Edgar let out a long, helpless sigh. "If my niece insists on taking back her parents' belongings, how can I stand in her way?"

"Well, I think this heiress is incredibly petty," a young businessman sneered. "She's already filthy rich, yet I heard she violently snatched the Bloomberry clothing line right out of Alicia's hands. She turned the headquarters into a circus. Most of their retail stores have shut down, and the brand is basically on the verge of bankruptcy."

His mother immediately grabbed his arm, hissing under her breath, "I brought you here to court the girl, not to stand around gossiping and trashing her!"

The young man shut his mouth and quickly walked away.

Alicia clearly recognized the mood of the room. Everyone wanted to get into the Lonsdales' good graces through Loyce. If she overtly smeared her, these wealthy socialites would just view her as bitter. She had to frame it nicely—because the sweeter the delivery, the more damning the implication.

Linking arms with Edgar, Alicia offered a gentle, maternal smile. "My niece is the jewel of the Lonsdale family. She can do whatever her heart desires... as long as she doesn't cross any legal lines, of course."

That specific phrasing instantly sent imaginations running wild.

"Wait, what exactly did she do?"

A socialite who frequently attended Alicia's private fashion events spoke up. "Didn't she barge into Alicia's factory a while ago? She supposedly demanded a batch of exclusive, top-tier fabrics that belonged to Élégance, claiming she needed them for the Nexus Design competition."

The crowd murmured. "What a coincidence. Bloomberry is competing too? I checked the Nexus Design roster, and Élégance is on it. Bloomberry used to be Alicia's side project, and it doesn't even have a real lead designer. How are they supposed to compete against elite brands at Nexus Design? Is she planning to steal designs again?"

There had been murmurs of plagiarism surrounding Loyce before, but nothing had ever been proven. Meanwhile, Sybil's humiliating history of theft was permanently immortalized on Steinway's official site.
