It was a jet that had already taken off and been ordered to turn back.
As the cabin doors opened, Lucian was sitting inside, looking immaculately sharp. He watched the wind whip Renee's hair around and asked calmly, "What's wrong with my future wife?"
Renee rolled her eyes. "You are completely whipped, aren't you? If I hadn't mentioned Loyce, you would've left me stranded. As long as her name is attached, you'll drop everything."
Lucian's expression remained stoic. "Are you getting on the plane, or are you swimming to the island?"
Without another word, Renee hauled Flavia on board.
...
Despite the rush, they managed to reach the island just before the opening show.
Renee practically dragged Flavia toward the backstage area. Lucian had initially planned to leave, but after Robert murmured a quick update in his ear, he stepped off the plane and took a leisurely stroll toward the venue as well.
The backstage corridors were packed. Flavia, already dizzy from blood loss, stumbled and accidentally bumped into a young woman carrying a garment bag.
Renee hadn't grabbed her in time, and neither had the woman.
"Hey!"
Seeing Flavia falling toward her, the girl aggressively shoved her backward to protect the dress.
"Ah!" Flavia hit the floor hard, her ears ringing.
The assistant, who had managed to keep her balance and protect the garment bag, didn't even bother looking at who she had pushed. She immediately started yelling. "What is wrong with you?! Watch where you're going! You scared me half to death!"
Flavia, already incredibly weak, saw stars. The impact sent a sharp throb through her bandaged wrists, and she couldn't summon the strength to stand up.
"I'm sorry," Flavia murmured, knowing she was at fault.
