She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 548

"I might be able to help."

As she spoke, Loyce's eyes darted across the patient's vitals, the surgical monitors, and the trays of instruments and medications.

The military surgeon instantly remembered who she was—the brilliant young medical prodigy whom even the renowned Dr. Heath respectfully called "Master."

His anger vanished entirely. "Scrub in and gear up. I'll buy you as much time as I can."

The patients Loyce typically handled were those suffering from bizarre, incurable conditions, hovering on the brink of death. She barely blinked at the gruesome, stomach-turning state of the survivor. She seamlessly stepped in and took over the procedure.

Her precision, speed, and unconventional techniques left the military surgeons absolutely stunned. They looked like they wanted to pull out notebooks and take notes right then and there.

The patient, who had been seconds away from being pronounced dead, stabilized under Loyce's hands. His blood pressure slowly climbed, and his vitals leveled out.

After a grueling ten-hour surgery, the sole survivor was pulled back from the edge.

A collective sigh of relief washed through the operating room.

"Thank God. We actually managed to save our key witness."

The senior surgeon followed Loyce out of the ER, pulling off his blood-spattered mask. His face was gray with exhaustion, but his eyes shone with profound gratitude.

He took a deep breath and looked at Loyce with utmost reverence.

"Dr. Lonsdale, I cannot thank you enough. If you hadn't arrived when you did, we would have had to watch our last piece of evidence die on that table."

Loyce popped a hard candy into her mouth and gave a small nod. "This whole mess is going to be front-page news very soon. Make sure you keep that witness under heavy guard."

The surgeon nodded vigorously. "We'll monitor him around the clock."

Hazel led Loyce through the heavily fortified naval base. "The Admiral is down at the docks. They've towed in what's left of The Providence, and the dive teams brought up the rest of the bodies. It's... it's a horrible scene down there. Do you want to rest first?"

Loyce shook her head. "I don't need rest, and I'm not afraid of bodies. Take me to him."
