She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 559

Dialing Thane's number, she made sure her voice was dripping with sugary sweetness. "Hey, I'm so sorry, I was busy and just saw your text. I'd love to go to the races! But... do you think you could invite Loyce too? Looking back, I think we were both a little too harsh the other night. We should really apologize to her properly."

Having no idea about the gruesome instructions Sybil had added to the hit, Thane still believed his men had merely roughed Loyce up a bit. Fearing the wrath of Loyce's powerful brothers if the truth came out, he eagerly agreed. "I'll send her an invite right now."

By the time Thane's message arrived, Loyce was already selecting her outfit for the VIP enclosures. The prestigious event was being hosted by one of Forrest Lonsdale's major business partners. Several of the jockeys competing were globally recognized superstars, and she wanted to strike a deal with the club's owner to have them model Bloomberry's new custom athletic wear for an international ad campaign.

At the Metropia Equestrian Center, the atmosphere was electric with old money and high-stakes betting.

The city's elite lounged in the exclusive stands, sipping champagne and placing wagers. As Loyce strolled through the promenade, practically every heir and socialite stood up to greet her with deep respect.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Lonsdale."

Sybil was sitting nearby, her arm linked through Thane's. Putting on an Oscar-worthy performance, she looked at Loyce with wide, remorseful eyes. "Loyce! I saved a VIP seat just for you. Come sit with us. Thane said these spots are impossible to get, and since it was so last-minute, you probably don't have a good view."

Loyce cast a brief, amused glance toward the ultra-exclusive owner's suites at the very top of the stadium before gracefully taking a seat next to Sybil.

"I lost control of my emotions at the bar, and I am so, so sorry," Sybil whispered, bowing her head in perfect contrition. "Please, can you find it in your heart to forgive me? Please don't ruin my life."

Seeing his chance to play the hero, Thane chimed in. "Yeah, she didn't mean any harm. She's practically begging for your forgiveness. Just let it go."
