She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 576

Loyce's face lit up with realization. "I get it now."

The moment Yorick stepped back to his own table, Jasmine sauntered over to Loyce, clutching her pool cue. She kept her voice conversational, but loud enough for everyone nearby to hear.

"You're certainly a quick learner, Ms. Lonsdale. But... aren't you rushing things a bit?" A mocking sneer twisted her lips. "Lucian just lost everything, and you're already eagerly letting another man take the reins? Well, I suppose it makes sense. He's not the man he used to be. It's only human nature for you to start looking out for yourself."

The malicious implication in her words was blatant. The surrounding area grew noticeably quieter as the onlookers eagerly tuned in for the drama.

Loyce was looking down, carefully applying chalk to her cue tip. She didn't pause her movements, nor did she even bat an eyelash. Only when she was satisfied with the cue did she slowly straighten up and meet Jasmine's gaze with absolute calm.

There was no embarrassment or panic in her eyes—only a cool, detached pity, as if she were watching a desperately untalented clown trying to put on a show.

"Jasmine." Loyce's tone was completely flat, yet the sarcasm was devastating. "Since you left the military base, has your brain completely atrophied? Can you really not think about anything other than hooking up?"

She tilted her head slightly, feigning confusion. "I am learning a new skill. A friend offered me some pointers, and I humbly accepted. It's a simple, innocent interaction. How on earth did it become something so vulgar in your eyes? How do you socialize with people normally? Is the environment you surround yourself with so toxic that you instantly assume everyone is having an affair or trying to seduce someone?"

She paused, her voice remaining steady, every word razor-sharp. "Or is it your genuine belief that no matter what a woman does, her ultimate goal is simply to attract a man? Your world is incredibly narrow, Ms. Hampton."

Jasmine's face flashed from pale to livid, utterly humiliated by the blunt, surgical takedown. Loyce's comment about her 'environment' had struck a raw nerve—her fifty-something father had recently taken a twenty-year-old actress as a mistress. The reminder made her expression darken into an ugly scowl.

The explosive exchange silenced the room; no one dared to breathe a word. Channing and Luna exchanged a glance, smirking in malicious amusement.

After taking two shots, Morris spoke up. "You're making my sister very uncomfortable."
