The moment Stellar Trust was mentioned, the entire Macrostar board erupted. One executive exclaimed, "They rarely participate in local competitive bids! Now they're suddenly active? Not only did they just drop a massive billion-dollar contract on Metropia that boosted the entire local economy, but they're also going after The Belfry?"
The head of the engineering division remained skeptical. "Even so, the risks associated with those parcels are exactly as Ms. Lonsdale described. We still need to tread carefully."
Edgar countered smoothly, "When have you ever seen Stellar Trust make a mistake?"
That single sentence silenced the room.
It was true. Stellar Trust's global renown wasn't just because they had their hands in everything; they were considered the undefeated kings of international commerce. If they eyed an asset, it generated revenue. Even if there were minor miscalculations, their aggressive operational strategies could easily turn any situation around.
Simply put: if you followed their lead, you were guaranteed a piece of the pie.
Knowing this, no one had any counterarguments.
Edgar softened his tone as he looked back at Loyce. "It's not that I don't want to believe you. As long as the Sampson family doesn't enter the bidding war, I'll believe you have Macrostar's best interests at heart."
She let out a soft sigh. "To be honest, the last time I grabbed dinner with them, I was trying to talk them out of bidding on A7 and A8. They wanted to use my financial backing to win the land, and of course, I refused."
He clearly didn't buy it. Seeing his skepticism, she didn't push the issue. She simply said, "Regardless of what happens, if Macrostar runs into trouble later, I will help."
Having delivered her lines, she stood up and walked out of the conference room.
She had successfully cemented her image as the caring, responsible heir in the minds of the executives. When Edgar inevitably crashed and burned, it would be the perfect moment for her to swoop in, win their loyalty, and buy up the shares.
Since her uncle was so dead-set on going down with the ship, she would just have to slowly devour his company, piece by piece.
Once she absorbed all his power, how could he possibly survive?
...
A week later, The Belfry land auction officially commenced.
Every major corporation with significant capital had their eyes on those prime parcels. The initial list of verified bidders was published online.
