He paused for a second before adding, "It also means... he's entrusting me to you."
Loyce looked down at the heavy deed in her hands and smiled radiantly. "Okay."
The Lonsdales might have had their grievances with Zeke Shapiro in the past, but right now, they couldn't help but respect the old man's sheer audacity and excellent judgment.
Their precious sister deserved nothing less than absolute reverence!
With that monumental gift set aside, attention turned to Lucian's present. Compared to the massive boxes under the tree, his offering was suspiciously small.
Eyeing the thin, flat package, Hank couldn't resist a jab. "Don't tell me you got her the newest iPad. Because if you did, that is officially the cheapest gift in the room."
Lucian ignored him completely, gesturing for Loyce to open it.
Loyce tore away the wrapping paper, and to everyone's shock, it was another property deed.
She flipped it open. It was for a private island.
"I bought it in your name," Lucian said casually. "It's massive, comes fully staffed with a private jet. You can build whatever entertainment facilities you want on it. I never want you to be unhappy, but if you ever are, or if you just want to be alone, you can go there to clear your head. I'm told it has the clearest view of the stars in the world."
The room went dead silent.
Suddenly, the extremely expensive, carefully curated gifts the brothers had bought felt entirely inadequate.
